Measuring productivity,
not hours worked.
While most employers remain tied to the 40-hour workweek, some
are experimenting with alternative plans and reduced hours.
Amazon launched a pilot program in August 2016
that allows employees in some departments to
work 30-hour weeks for 75 percent of their salary
and retain full benefits.
San Diego-based Tower Paddle Boards cut its
workday from eight hours to five (employees skip
lunch). In the first year of the program, the
company’s revenue rose 42 percent.
