Gretel, Beth and Grace are going
on a journey to the city to visit
grandmother.
2. BUS TERMINAL
They waited at the
bus terminal. Rain was
starting to fall when
the bus arrived.
3. TYPHOON AND STORM
PAGASA said a typhoon
has just entered the
country. The storm will
bring rains and strong
winds the whole day. The
driver was unwilling to go.
4. ROOFLESS AND DESTROYED
He said the wind
was so strong that
many houses he saw
along the way were
roofless. The wind
blew off the roads
and destroyed the
houses.
5. MUDDY
When the rain
stopped, the bus left
for the city. The road
was muddy.
6. LIFELESS
Beth bought sandwiches
from a vendor. But she did
not buy any because she
saw a lifeless fly in one of
the sandwiches.
7. SEALED AND SUPPLY
She was sure it was not
safe to eat. Anyway, they
have some sealed biscuits
their food supply for the
trip.

Ending -The part of the plot that tells the actions of the character
to solve the problem. How the characters solve the problem?
The most important events in the story are called Plot. It is
subdivided into three.

Plants and Water
Jose’s father has a vegetable garden in their backyard. He has eggplant, pechay,
radishes, and cabbages. He has cucumbers, patola, upo, and other vegetables
vines. One day, Jose came home from school, ahead of his father who works in a
factory in town.
He saw his father’s garden. The soil was very dry and the leaves of the plants were
withered due to the hot sun. After changing his clothes, he took the sprinkler and
began watering the plants. He was almost through with her work when his father
arrived.
“Good boy,” his father said. “The plants are surely happy now. They are also like
people. When it is very hot, they also want to drink.”
“I know it, Father,” Jose said. “That’s why I’m watering them.”
