2. Importance of Professional Grooming
Proper grooming and a professional
appearance are important to gain
respect in the workplace. As a young
professional, the way you look and
carry yourself creates an impression on
the people you work alongside.
3. Why Wear Makeup?
For women, wearing makeup at
work can be a complex issue. They
must balance looking professional
with the risk of being objectified.
Overall, research shows that use of
cosmetics signals status.
Some advantages of makeup
include: It shows How Much you
care about yourself: Makeup
serves as a way of showing that

4. What will Makeup do for you?
❖ Makeup simply makes you look healthier. Beyond any
attractiveness measures, cosmetics may help women
create certain favorable social perceptions. Indeed, a
recent experiment revealed that women pictured wearing
cosmetics were evaluated as healthier, more confident,
and even having greater earning potential than the same
women wearing no makeup (Nash, Fieldman, Hussey,
Leveque, & Pineau, 2003). This suggests that makeup has a
potentially useful role in strategic self-presentation.
5. Guide to wearing Makeup?
❖ Lipstick: Wear red. Women with red lips are in fact
perceived as more attractive (Stephen & McKeegan,
2010).
❖ Foundation appears foundational. Perhaps, because it
evens skin tone, and therefore may give a stronger
impression of health and symmetry, foundation is
widely recognized as enhancing beauty!
6. Guide to wearing
Makeup?
❖ Focus on the eyes. In
recent studies, women
rated eye makeup as the
Number One product
enhancing other women’s
facial attractiveness
(Mulhern et al., 2003).
❖ A bit of blush.
8. Step 1: Gather
Tools
List of Items Required:
Bronzer, Brushes, Concealer,
Eyeliner, Eyeshadow Palette,
Foundation, Mascara,
Powder, Primer.
9. Step 2: Prep
Apply a thin layer of moisturizer or
primer to prep your skin for makeup.
Making sure your skin is hydrated
and plump before makeup
application is key to making your
makeup look like real, natural skin.
10. Step 3: Base
Apply a light to medium coverage
foundation or BB cream, stippling it
on with a blending sponge or flat
brush. If you do use a brush and
want a seamlessly blended finish, go
over your face with a damp beauty
sponge to ensure there are no
streaks or lines. Next, pat concealer
under eyes. Choose a color one to
two shades lighter than your
foundation to brighten up the under
eye area and cover up any
discoloration and dark circles. For a
more luminous look, apply concealer
to your forehead, the bridge of your
nose and chin — then blend.
11. Step 4: Cheeks
Sweep blush onto the apples of your
cheeks to give your face a nice flush.
For a natural finish, you’ll want the
blush to look soft and diffused, so
we recommend an easy-to-blend
formula. Warm up your skin tone
with a bronzer of your choice. Apply
this under your cheekbones and
along your temples and jawline.
12. Step 5:
Eyebrows
Spoolie your brows, and fill them in
with a brow product of your choice.
Powders give a diffused, natural look
while pencils are more precise.
13. Step 6: Eyes
Apply a warm eyeshadow shade to
your crease, then swipe a neutral
shade across the lower lid. Blend,
blend, blend! For this step we
recommend a palette with lots of
matte brown shades so you can
experiment with tones and colors
that work for you. Apply a single
coat of mascara to the top and
bottom lashes and be sure to wiggle
your wand vertically to get every
single lash.
14. Step 7: Lips
Finish the look with a pink or nude
lip gloss that compliments your skin
tone.
