2. Sportsmanship plays a major role in sports, it
decides how the game is run and what
happens in the game. Sportsmanship is ethical,
appropriate, and polite and fair behavior while
participation in a game or athletic event.
3. Owners and coaches are the people who run the tem. If
there are no owners and coaches, there is no “Team”.
Owners have to keep control of their team and make sure
they have what they need to compete at the level they are in.
Owners also have to take responsibility in choosing the right
staff for the team, ones that will get the job done and do it
the right way. Coaches have to be good role models and
have good sportsmanship on the field . Coaches are the
mind set on the field and they have control of the team. It’s
the coaches job to keep the team in order and lead them to a
win.
4. Being safe and healthy in sports is an important part in
sports because there are so many cases of people getting
injured doing athletic activities. If a player is injured or
hurt they need to be properly taken care of, they can’t be
forced to go back in the game if they are not a 100%.
Staff and the player him/her-self need to be smart when
they decide to back into the game after being hurt, or
else it could result in a further or worse injury. This is
why teams and schools pay athletic trainers so much
because, they need the best to treat the players.
5. Athletes are expected to be good role models for the
community. There are so many people in the world
watching these athletes on live television and look up to
them. Athletes who make bad decisions and aren’t good
role models are shamed due to the fact that it isn’t okay.
Think of all of the kids who watch these athletes , we
would want them to follow the athletes that do good not
the ones that do bad.
6. A “good” role model is someone who does good for the
community, and is a polite person who doesn’t do good acts.
These types of athlete are the ones that parents want their kids to
look up to especially when it becomes their time to shine on a field
or court. A “bad” role model is someone who acts out or throws a
fit every time they don’t get their way or someone who does bad
acts and parties a lot. An example of a bad role model is Johnny
Manziel who parties a lot and basically lost his chances of playing
in the NFL anymore. Athletes should think about what they do
and figure out if it is the right choice or not.
7. Fans are a big part of sports today, almost every person has a
favorite team from at least one sport. Fans are supposed to be
supportive and cheer for their team. There are fans who can get
out of control or have bad sportsmanship if their team looses. If
fans do these types of acts then it represents their team in a bad
way. Fans and parents tend to blame the coaches when a team
does bad and thinks they are not doing their jobs. The fans and
coaches are not there when the team has practice or when they are
in the locker room, so they shouldn’t judge the coaches or player
on what happens during the game.
8. There has been many cases of athletes using performance
enhancing drugs. These drugs make you faster bigger stronger. It
is not acceptable nor fair for an athlete to use the drugs because the
awards or trophies that they get while they were using them don’t
really count as their work it was the drugs. The athletes that have
been caught have been stripped of certain awards and trophies and
a bad reputation on themselves. Imagine the people that were
getting hurt because of an athlete that was too strong because he
was using drugs, even though the hurt player doesn’t know it still
isn’t right.
9. Sportsmanship over the years will get better and it will
come to an understanding that yes bad things happen
and it upset a particular person, but people will realize
that it is not the end. There are many years of sports
and life since it has started, every year will have a
different outcome. Maybe on year your favorite team
goes 0-10 and then the next year they may go 5-5.
People have to realize that you cant get upset over the
little things
