• Before a historian presents his or her studies to the scholars and before these
studies make it to the textbooks, there are a lots of historical sources that
historians must use.

• SECONDARY SOURCES

12. PRIMARY SOURCE
• Comes from the time which a historian is studying
• It is sometimes called RAW MATERIALS of history
• It is any first hand testimony, account , document or any physical object written or
created during or immediately right after the time under study.
• These sources were present during an experience or time period and offer a
ringside view of a particular event

13. PRIMARY SOURCE
• These may be original documents/ translation of diaries, speeches, manuscripts or
letters
• It may also be in ancient times be paintings, tools, weapons, fossils, animal bones
and teeth or official myths

14. SECONDARY SOURCES
• On the other hand , secondary sources includes documents showing an
interpretation and analysis of the primary source. It is usually written after the
actual event
• It includes published materials in varied forms such as textbook, magazines,
histories, criticisms, commentaries and encyclopedias.

commemorating the actual event
