4. 'Fluorescent Adolescent
2007'
Handheld camera,
raggedy effect, fast
shots to match the
action of what is
happening in the
video.
This song is clearly about the
changes that you go through
as you go grow up. The
clowns represent childish
things like your imagination,
creativity, childishness etc.
The men in suits represent
things you have to accept as an
adult. Such as responsibility,
work, seriousness etc.
And as your growing up, these things conflict with
each other, and eventually there is only one left. The
clown is personified and is losing his best and only
friend because the friend is growing up and leaving
the clown. Hence the clown is singing the lyrics
"Where did you go". That's the story of the music
video, not the lyrics.
5. Rock
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with
an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. The band currently consists of
founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Flea (bass), longtime drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in
late 2009, replacing John Frusciante. Red Hot Chili Peppers have won seven Grammy Awards, and have become one of the best-selling
bands of all time, selling over 80 million records worldwide. In 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They released their first album, One Hot Minute (1995). Although commercially successful, the album failed to match the critical or
popular acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, selling less than half as much as its predecessor. Navarro was fired from the band in 1998.
Frusciante, fresh out of drug rehabilitation, rejoined the band that same year at Flea's request. The reunited quartet returned to the
studio to record Californication (1999), which became the band's biggest commercial success with 16 million copies worldwide. That
album was followed three years later by By the Way (2002), and then four years later by the double album Stadium Arcadium (2006),
their first number one album in America. The band spent the next year and a half from 2009, recording their tenth studio album, I'm with
You, which was released in 2011 and topped the charts in 18 different countries.
6. ‘Californication 2000'
Video game type
video, the animation
of the video gives it
is game type feel
and as the video
goes on, you can see
that it is a video
game based video.
The band members
are also seen as
having their own
video game
character and the
design being cartoon
like.
Video has a lot going
on all the way
through the video
which could
symbolise the life in
which the band face,
hectic schedule.

9. ‘Young, Wild and Free
2011'
Video contains a lot
of drug use and
alcohol use, to
match the
stereotype with
Snoop Dogg and Wiz
Khalifa that they
smoke weed all of
the time. Also the
song has lyrics that
show that they don’t
care what people
think about what
they do “so what we
get drunk, so what
we smoke weed”
shows that.
The video also uses
slow camera shots
rather than fast
paced shots to
match the pace of
the song and gives it
a slow feel to match
the feeling of
smoking weed,
chilled out, slow, laid
back.
Smoky effect to the camera
work, smoke from smoking
weed.

11. ‘Don’t you worry child
2012'
This video has a feel
at the beginning of
living the lives in
which they lived for
the years in which
they were together,
being DJ’s, it makes
it seem as though
they live a fun filled
life with the content
of the video of them
always doing
something fun such
as performing. It
gives the feeling of
the lives they live
from 25 seconds
through to 50
seconds.
Open or closed narrative;
The music video has a closed narrative. As the clips of the

finish soon and when the video ends with a big ‘thank you’,
the group of DJs and the audience leave the concert ground.
Goodwin: Illustration, amplification or
disjuncture;

14. ‘Virtual Insanity 1996'
The video matches
the song title in a
way that the action
within the video is
what you could class
as ‘insanity’ due to
the things that go on
in the video such as
moving furniture.
The video only contains one person apart from a brief period within
the video were 4 other people are dressed in all white to match the
background. The ‘lead’ person in the video is seen to be wearing
different to those of people in white which could suggest that he is
different to everyone else. This could therefore match the song title
due to him not being the same or ‘normal’ as everyone else within
the video.
