3. History of AVT …
• In 1925, Alfred Vedam Thomas purchased a grass
land in a place named Pasuparai in the state of Tamil
Nadu. He planted tea sapling their. He floated various
companies under his management in different location
around the world.
5. Spices Industry Profile
• India is known as the “land of spices”.
• India produces the world largest spices.
• The spices that India offer in abundant quantities and on
which processing is done are pepper, ginger, turmeric,
chilly, cardamom, celery, fenugreek, fennel, cumin,
coriander, cinnamon, cassia, clove, nutmeg and mace
• An estimated 5, 00,000 tons of spices and herbs having
value of 1500 million US$ are now imported globally
every year.

increasing every year. Spice oil and oleoresin are
exported to about 18 developed countries in the world.
• USA is the major importer of oil and oleoresin from India
• There are about 24 companies engage in producing
spice oil and oleoresins. Most of them are located in
Kerala. The total production of these ranges from 2500 to
3000 tons per year.

market for oleoresin. So AVT should take steps to improve the

center in Europe where they have only few agents.
• New product development time should be reduced
• Promotional activities can be improved
• Provide more staffs for office works.
• Suggestions should be obtained from employees for future
improvements

• The Company is constantly exploring new and exciting
flavors for its consumers through continuous R&D.
• The unique strength of AVT NPL is that it is the largest
producer of marigold extracts in the world.
• There is an urgent need to do more research and
