The communication technology mainly Blackberry enables a medium to facilitate mediated interpersonal communication because of its interactive ability. This aspect creates some easiness. In the interpersonal communication keeping apart with a distance, the interactivity of the convergent media has been over the potential ability of a feedback since a person accessing a convergent medium directly gives a feedback of the message conveyed. Blackberry as a result of an advanced technology development has been growing so fast in this life. Based on the background and phenomenon mentioned, this research studied about “The Relationship between The Use of Blackberry with The Demand Fulfillment and Personality of The Junior High Students in Bandung.” The research was aimed at finding out: (1) the correlation between ten intensity of blackberry use with the cognitive and affective fulfillment of The Junior High School Students, (2) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Tense Release of The Junior High School Students, (3) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Personal Integrative of The Junior High School Students; (4) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Socially Integrative of The Junior High School Students; (5) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Confidence of The Junior High School Students; (6) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Tolerance of The Junior High School Students; (7) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Whole Fulfillment of The Junior High School Students; (8) the correlation between the intensity of blackberry use with the Personality as a whole of The Junior High School Students The research used a quantitative approach with the explanatory survey method. The Theories used were: Cognitive Psychology, Technology Determinism, and Uses and Gratification . The population of the research was The Junior High School students. By using random sampling technique, it was taken 5 schools and 200 students as the sample. The data were taken through questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzes by using the statistical test of correlation. The results of the research were shown in the forms of Bar Chart.

Many people have access to these online networks which they are using for both privately and publicly. Online social networks such as Facebook may be used for communication purposes when want to deliver information. In this study, two individuals were examined. One individual was exposed to a community which used social networks frequently, while the other did not have any exposure to social networks. During their time in these communities, their behaviour was closely observed. It was noted that the individual exposed to social networks had ways in managing privacy while the other was not interested in such issues. This article is credible in examination of information exposed to social media and how people communicate information due to new technology. There is also evidence that improvement of technology has increased the access of information especially in social media. The research used a quantitative approach with the explanatory survey method. The Theories used were: Cognitive Psychology, Technology Determinism, and Uses and Gratification . The population of the research was The Junior High School students. By using random sampling technique, it was taken 5 schools and 200 students as the sample. The data were taken through questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzes by using the statistical test of correlation. The results of the research show that almost in every aspect of the intensity use of Blackberry with the students’ demand fulfillment (tense release, personal integrative and social integrative) as well as with their personality had no significant correlation or if there were, the correlation was very low. This means that the use of blackberry did not give any impact to the personality (cognitive, affective or tolerance) of the students, or in other words it could be said that the development of communication technology gave very little impact on the students’ personality and demand fulfillment. Yet, since the research also found out that most of female students used Blackberry for one hour without stopping, the researcher then gave The Guidance book to the Junior High School students about “Smart and Wise in Using Blackberry”.

This talk reveals a snapshot of my dissertation project in its current, pre-proposal form. Today, all kinds of subcultures are coalescing online—from from support groups to, fan groups, to activist groups, to hobby guilds, to political parties, to tinkerer groups, to philanthropy groups, etc. Prior to industrialization, humans largely lived in and made sense of the world through an association to a tribe or small group, so this tendency may not be surprising. The reasons people are drawn into subcultural associations today, however, are different from before. In addition to kinship ties, styles of dress, and language, today, shared technological practice acts to identify members as part of a subculture. The dynamic process of subcultural boundary-making through technology use will be illuminated in this project by drawing on ethnographic data collected on preliminary site visits to Indiana Amish communities. The Amish provide a particularly illustrative example of the dynamic mechanisms that govern subcultural boundary-making today because of their history of developing (often enigmatic) rules about technology use that govern their interactions with people outside their subculture.

Ems Sports Lecture T205 Fall 2012

This paper presented at the 2012 European Association of Antropologigists conference in Nanterre, France considers the role that media have played in shaping the structure and outcomes of revolutions and revolutionary events. Inspired by the debate about the role of social media tools like Twitter and Facebook in recent protests and revolutions in northern Africa and the Middle East, this paper turns to existing literature on social movements by sociologists, in which communication tools go largely unnoticed, and puts it in dialogue with the work of media theorists. Setting these theoretical bodies next to one another enables a different kind of discussion to emerge; a discussion which offers a new lens through which to see social movements in the digital age. Theories of media materiality help augment existing social movement theories by making the experience, image and outcome of a social movement dependent (to an extent) on the communication technologies used to make it happen. Findings suggest that geography becomes just another aspect of the story told about or experience of a social movement today as our worldviews increasingly adopt characteristics of the technologies we use to communicate.
