2. Comprising 23 medical professionals and health
care organization executives, the
Temple University School of Medicine Board of Visitors acts
as an advisory body to the university Board of
Trustees as well as to the dean of the School of
Medicine, the president, and the provost. As such,
the Board of Visitors contributes to the mission of
Temple University by offering an outside
perspective via reports on the activities and
objectives of the school with regard to its place as
a member of the greater medical education
community. Members of the Board of Visitors also
serve as liaisons to external organizations having
an interest or affiliation with the School.
3. Current distinguished members include Chair
Gerald M. Lemole, MD, who leads the
Cardiovascular Surgery Department at Christiana
Care Health Services in Pennsylvania as chief;
John Fallon, MD, chief physician executive and
senior vice president of Blue Cross Blue
Shield of Massachusetts; and Lindsay
Rosenwald, MD, cofounder of Opus Point
Partners. In addition to his involvement in the
Board of Visitors, Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald has
supported the School of Medicine in the past by
financing the purchase and installation of leading
edge equipment for the university’s new
Education and Research Building, opened in
August 2009.
