Presentation introducing the DCLG funded "English My Way" project as a fresh approach to English language learning, focused on supporting adults with no or low levels of English to better integrate with their local communities.

2. What is English My Way?
• Tinder Foundation working in partnership with British
Council & BBC Learning English
• EMW will focus on supporting adults with no or low
levels of English to better integrate with their local
communities
• Learners’ prospects will be enhanced with transferable
skills and ability to access services
3. English My Way Syllabus
• 24 week blended learning programme:
o tutor led sessions (2 hours per week)
o rich multimedia online learning (1 hour per week)
o volunteer supported group activity (1 hour per week)
• 10 topic areas - each including a wide range of
resources and activities
• All content freely available via EMW site

4. Delivery
• EMW will be delivered in all 29 priority areas
• 56 community organisations will receive
funding to deliver the programme
• Unfunded delivery from organisations within
and outside UK online centres network
• April 2014 - April 2015
5. Outputs
7,360 adults engaged by English My Way:
• 3,360 adults engaged by 56 funded centres
o 2,352 (70%) completion
o 840 (25%) progression to E1 English course
• 1,500 adults engaged by unfunded centres
• 500 learning circle participants
• 2,000 adults accessing EMW content via
BBC Learning English website
