Example of an Element
           ● This aluminum foil
               is an element
               because it is made
               of the element
               aluminum.
Example of a Compound
           ● Salt is a compound
               because it is made
               up of more than
               one atom.
           ● Salt is made out of
               two elements which
               are sodium and
               chlorine. (NaCl)
Compound
    ● Water is a
        compound because
it is made up of two
        elements which are
        hydrogen and
        oxygen. (H2O)
Example of a Mixture
           ● Lemonade is a
               mixture because it
               was mixed with
               lemon, water, and
               sugar.
           ● A mixture is two
               properties
               combining without a
               new chemical
               forming.
Mixture
    ● Salt water is a
        mixture because
        water and salt are
        mixed in and there
        aren't any new
        chemicals.
Mixture
    ● Sugar water is also a
        mixture because it is
        made up of only
        sugar and water.
Example of a Homogenous mixture
 This glass of milk is
                    an example of a
                    homogenous mix-
                    ture because it is
                    the same from top
                    and bottom.
Homogenous mixture
          Lotion is a homo-
             genous mixture be-
             cause there are no
             layers or different
             parts of this mix-
             ture.
Example of a Heterogeneous Mixture
                 ● This cereal is a
                     heterogeneous mixture
                     because it has many
                     layers of cereal and
                     milk.
Heterogeneous Mixture
           ● This pizza is a
               heterogeneous mixture
               because this has many
               layers of pepperoni,
               cheese, sauce, and the
               crust.
