articles for town meetings
• Almost 100 participants from over 35 cities and towns
throughout the Commonwealth
• Over two dozen proposed bylaws and ordinances were
prepared as a result.
• Currently planning conference on issues of
implementation
• Strategies for helping businesses and other community
members transition to a bag- or polystyrene-free lifestyle

18. • Nonprofit organizations (Toxics Action Center, Sierra
Club, Audubon Society, etc.) support grassroots actors
• Offer official endorsements of proposed bylaws
• Encouraging their members to cast their votes at town
meeting, or contact their representatives.
• The Mass Green Network coordinates this crucial
avenue of support.
• This spring 13 municipalities have had bottle bills or
polystyrene regulations on their town meeting warrants.
• Of the 6 that have come up for vote so far, every single
one has passed, thanks to these coordinated efforts.
