3. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a
company's /Institutions commitment to manage
the social, environmental and economic effects of
its operations responsibly and in line with public
expectations. ... CSR activities may include:
Company policies that insist on working with
partners who follow ethical business practices.
4. Porter and Kramer have organized CSR initiatives into 3
categories—
(1)“generic social issues”: issues that are socially important but
less likely to be affected by operations of business corporations
and have little substantial effects from long-term competition;
(2)“value chain social impact”: social effects seen from the
corporate side as social issues that can be significantly affected
by very ordinary business activities in the course of regular busi-
ness process; and
(3)“social dimensions competitive context”: social issues that
affect the competitiveness in the region where business is
conducted
5. In today’s world with the advent of globalization,
hospitals play an imperative role by providing
effective responses to existing, new and
unexpected health care problems. Hospitals, with
the mission of providing restorative
administrations, are grateful to continually
ensure that the welfare of patients remain the
utmost primacy while promoting social, economic
and environmental equity through CSR initiatives
(Siniora, 2017)

7. Expecting the government to solve all problems is a convenient stance. There is
much that companies can do to support health care as a part of their 2 percent
mandatory spending. Companies focus significantly on healthcare. Our study of
India’s top companies for sustainability and CSR shows that the top 200
companies spend around Rs 1369 crores on healthcare and wellness. About 24% of
the total spend on CSR is focused on healthcare. However, much of the spend
tends to be focused on health camps and building hospitals or donating to
hospitals for upkeep of facilities. Health camps tend to have a short-term
orientation and are number driven. Setting up and running hospitals are often
poorly targeted.

9. Hospitals need to find more way to engage in CSR activities around
healthcare. Outline a few themes where Indian hospitals could
improve their focus and their attention at least during COVID 19
Providing pandemic awareness
Providing Safe Transporting
Providing Sanitary materials
Improving primary care
Getting doctors to rural areas
Increase number of doctors
Provide barefoot doctors
Reducing treatment cost
Promote tradition medicine
Follow-up on health checks
Support non-mainstream illnesses
10. Need to improve CSR practices towards the
environment, hygiene conditions & bio-medical waste
management include Swap nasal samples, Mask and face
shields
Hospitals need to pay attention to CSR towards
community. This could be done by looking into the
requirements of the community. It leads to promoting
overall welfare of the society. Every hospital must take
into account the social, cultural and financial
characteristics of the patients while fulfilling societal
obligations.
Build collaborative relationship and effective network
for CSR policy implementation. Pool the resources &
build synergies to implement best CSR practices to scale
up projects and innovate new once to reach out to more
beneficiaries.
11. Every hospital should constitute a CSR committee to
recommend CSR policy i.e. schedule& budget.
The hospitals should create awareness about CSR among
their human resource & keep inform about CSR. Training
& encouragement for employees to join local voluntary
organizations are needed for improving the CSR activities.
CSR can successfully implement with the willingness, self-
motivation and cooperation from all sections. The
stakeholders should involve carry-out such activities.
