6. Supercluster Projects
Project funding will focus on three streams of work:
• Ground-Breaking Process Transformation: Game-changing technologies applied in
Canadian manufacturing.
• High Potential Technology Development: Scaling technologies for next generation
manufacturing in Canada.
• Ecosystem Development: Enhancing access to the network of organizations, support
services, tools, and testbeds that accelerate technology adoption in manufacturing and
generate new customers and scale-up opportunities for technology firms.

7. Strategic Evaluation Criteria
Transformative
• Positioning Canada as a global leader in advanced manufacturing.
Applied
• Involving later stage technology and manufacturing readiness with a
potential to generate significant commercial benefits.
Collaborative
• Involving the participation of industry partners, co-investors, academic
and research institutions.
Enduring
• Leaving a legacy in skills development, tools, testbeds, IP, business
knowledge for Canada’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
8. Mandatory Terms & Conditions
Projects must:
• Be collaborative – involve at least four industry partners in project consortia.
• Be industry led – NGen will reimburse eligible industry expenses at a maximum
rate of 44.4%.
• Be undertaken in Canada by NGen members.
• Not be something that companies would do without Supercluster funding.
• Have adequate project management processes in place.
• Have a consortium agreement in place defining roles, responsibilities, and IP
sharing arrangements.
• Adhere to NGen’s Project Requirements and Funding Agreement terms

9. Applying for a Project
1. Join NGen – any member can submit a project application
2. Ensure your project proposal meets NGen’s eligibility criteria
– Pre-screen and project requirements will be posted on www.ngen.ca
3. Submit an Expression of Interest
– Based on ten questions
– EOIs will be reviewed by an independent assessment panel
– Applicants will receive either a green light for a full application or feedback with respect to how to
strengthen their project proposal
4. Provide project details in a full application including work packages, milestones, timelines, partners, potential
IP, expected costs
– Applications will be reviewed by an independent assessment panel
– Selection will be based on strategic and mandatory criteria
5. Approved projects then move to final contracting stage
– Funding agreement with NGen
– Agreement among consortium partners
6. Regular monitoring and reporting
– Quarterly updates and claims for reimbursement
