this piece of information briefly describes about the existing higher education system of Pakistan and its Flaws along with some suggestive advices to take over the flaws and maintain a good standards of education in Pakistan.
3. Introduction
The system of education includes all institutions that are involved in delivering
formal education.
The education system is a group of institutions including all private and
government sector schools, colleges, universities, etc. whose primary purpose is
to provide education to children and young people in educational settings.
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge,
skills, values, beliefs, and habits.
4. Education system of Pakistan
According to the reports published in March 2015
Total institutions 260,903
Public institutions 180,846
Private institutions 80,057
According to these facts and figures, 31% educational institutes are

6. Quality of Education
Education in Pakistan has become a big and quick buck making business.
Institutes in Pakistan providing higher education to students have all sorts of
comforts and luxuries and has maintained their standards.
Unfortunately these high standard institutes fails to provide quality education
to students.
Students passing out with their degrees lack in knowledge and discipline.
The result is that every year thousands of graduates are produced who are
added to the list of unemployed youth.
Lack of vocational training facilities also accounts for this issue.
7. Cost of Education
Cost for higher education in Pakistan is increasing rapidly, specially for the
private sector institutions.
The quality of education provided in private as well as in public institutions
are generally considered to be different.
While a huge number of people are unable to afford the cost of private
sector institutions.
As a result of which the literacy rate is not increasing efficiently as the
competition in government institutes is higher and private sector is out of
reach.
8. Allocation of Low Budget
Pakistan’s spending on education as a percentage of GDP remains among the lowest in the region
South Asia.
Which was 2.2 percentage of GDP in the fiscal year 2017 as compared to 2.3 percentage of GDP in
the fiscal year 2016.
There is a need to increase it around 7% of the total GDP, in order to provide a good, efficient and
meaningful education to the youth of Pakistan.
Only five countries spent more than 15% on education, which includes
Brazil
Chile
Mexico
New Zealand
Costa Rica

9. Difference in teaching methods
In primary and secondary education system of Pakistan the process of rote
learning is implemented.
It is a process of mindless memorization of facts and figures. It is the ability of
your brain to remember things.
While in higher education system the technique of meaningful learning is
implemented.
Meaningful learning is the process which tells us about how much we have
understood the subject.
Meaningful learning holds more importance, it provides conceptual learning to
the students.
10. Rote Learning
It is the process of mindless
memorization of content.
Students who learn through this
method are unable to relate and
deal with new information
coming there way.
Students are limited in their
brains and only have the
knowledge which is delivered
through teachers.
Conceptual Learning
The data or content is fully
understood by the students.
Students can relate new
information to their existing
knowledge.
Concepts of students are clear
which as a result makes learning
easier and students don’t feel any
burden.
11. Gender Gap
The gender discrimination is a cause that is contributing towards the low
participation rate of girls.
The ratio of participation among male and female students is 10:4
Less number of seats are allocated for female candidates in every field of
education.
12. Cramming Based Education System
The examination is the tool to evaluate student’s learning. It should rely on
qualitative and quantitative techniques to comprehensively weigh in the
performance of students.
Pathetically, the examination system is not only fusty, but it also lacks
credential to judge the performance of learners.
The examination system determines only the memory of students. It does not
evaluate them in totality.
13. Education as a Business
Education has been pursued by some of the people as an industry.
In this scenario the only purpose of educational institutes providing higher
education is to make money where students are customers.
As a result of which the future of students is at risk but most importantly the
future of this country, the future of Pakistan is at risk.
14. Conclusion
However all these issues in the education system of Pakistan can be
resolved through appropriate steps and measures taken at both government
and private level. Which in my opinion is extremely important for the
efficient growth and betterment of higher education in Pakistan as well as
for the future of youth after all the future of this country is in the hands of
students.
