2. THE IMPORTANCE OF PRIMARY PDHPE
Personal Development, Health & Physical
Education (PDHPE) is a key learning area
within the primary curriculum.
PDHPE programs play a unique role in the
development of students’
knowledge, understandings and practical skills
that lead to better health, physically and
psychologically.
Students develop lifelong skills such as:
communication skills, decision making
skills, interacting skills, moving skills and
problem solving skills.
PDHPE also encourages an understanding and
valuing of self and others.

Students will learn and develop their knowledge and
understanding through numerous aspects including:

In order for students to achieve the outcomes of the NSW K-6
PDHPE syllabus it is essential that teaching and learning occurs in
each of the strands/subjects in each stage of primary education.
