2. THE IMPORTANCE OF PRIMARY PDHPE
 Personal Development, Health & Physical
Education (PDHPE) is a key learning area
within the primary curriculum.
 PDHPE programs play a unique role in the
development of students’
knowledge, understandings and practical skills
that lead to better health, physically and
psychologically.
 Students develop lifelong skills such as:
communication skills, decision making
skills, interacting skills, moving skills and
problem solving skills.
 PDHPE also encourages an understanding and
valuing of self and others.

understanding through numerous aspects including:

In order for students to achieve the outcomes of the NSW K-6
PDHPE syllabus it is essential that teaching and learning occurs in
each of the strands/subjects in each stage of primary education.
