year of the homestead!
From all of us at The Homestead, we hope you are having
a year as productive and eventful as ours. To honor our
245th birthday, we are renovating, celebrating, and
commemorating everything that makes The Homestead
one of the most special places in the world. During the
months ahead we have many wonderful activities and
events planned, including new recreational experiences,
new seasonal food offerings, and so much more.
The Homestead will be celebrating its 245th birthday
on August 27, and we’ll be bringing our treasured
history alive all year long, so it’s a great moment to
plan a gathering here. Late Summer and early Fall are
ideal for meetings --a perfect time to enjoy our many
amenities, like traditional afternoon tea in the Great Hall.
Our breathtaking landscape is just the right backdrop
for all our outdoor activities, and everything is infused
with a special kind of tradition and charm that only the
Birthplace of Southern Hospitality can offer.
The Homestead mission is to create an inspired
environment for you and your colleagues to gather
and celebrate your own missions and successes. Our
meetings team delivers exceptional service and provides
an array of events and experiences, thereby offering

We can’t wait to show off the beautifully renovated guestrooms in our Majestic Tower and historic West Wing. The new
marble bathrooms, pedestal sinks, window treatments, bedding and carpeting only serve to make these much requested
rooms all the more inviting. Come see the improvements for yourself!
Now, when you step off the dance floor in the Grand Ballroom, you’ll be stepping onto our elegant new carpeting. This
14,000 square-foot signature room has never looked better, ready for yet another century of historic celebrations.
What better way to commemorate our 245th year than a complete update of our Commonwealth Room? This 7,200
square foot room now boasts brand new carpeting, new coffered ceiling, and a spectacular lighting and sound system.
Best of all, the legendary hand-painted murals have been so carefully restored that you can now enjoy the depiction of
Virginia’s four most famous homes - Monticello, Mount Vernon, Williamsburg US First Capital Building and The Homestead
– as if they, too, were brand new again.
