2. Props and Planning
We're almost ready to start filming, all that's left is a quick check of props, cast and locations.
Cast
Firstly, the most important character we are going to need is an apple. Well, a large number of apple's to be
precise. We are going to buy 12 to start off with and then see how we go from there. We have decided to go
with Granny Smith Apples due to the fact that they are the most consistent in colour and size. This will help us with
our continuity and make it seem like the apple is the same one throughout the film.
(UPDATE: THIS SLIDESHOW HAS BEEN EDITED SINCE PRODUCTION TO SHOW THE CHARACTERS)
3. AN APPLE
Firstly, the most important character we are going to need is an
apple. Well, a large number of apple's to be precise. We are going
to buy 12 to start off with and then see how we go from there. We
have decided to go with Granny Smith Apples due to the fact that
they are the most consistent in colour and size. This will help us
with our continuity and make it seem like the apple is the same one
throughout the film.
4. The lady - For this role we require a middle aged
woman who is most likely to fit the role of 'House
wife'. Possible candidates for this role include Mrs
Blues & Mrs Sullivan, both mothers of members of
the group.
5. 2 school kids - Needed for the scene
where these characters bump into the
lady. This is most likely going to Joe
Sullivan and myself as it makes it easier to
cast people in my group because they are
easier to get hold of.
6. The cyclist - We were hoping to cast a young female for
this role. Possible candidates include Brigitta Rose and
Bryony Hopkins. Both are drama students at the Windsor
Girls' School.
7. The Child and Parent - It would be sensible to
have both characters as actual family relations as
we plan to have a young child, possibly as young as
5 or 6. Andrew Titheridge and his son are willing
to take these roles.
8. The Jogger - This role can be played by anyone
young enough. It is most likely we will choose
someone from the same year group and school as us as
it will prove to be the most logistical option.
9. The dog walker and the dog - We have 3 sets of people currently
in the running for these roles. Sammy Summerville and her dog.
James Boreham and his dog Jasper, and Mike Clark and his dog
Alfie. Alfie seems to be a strong contender as we hear is very well
trained. It would also be preferable for the dog to be able to catch
and hold an actual apple instead of a prop. Alfie also seems the most
competent in this department so he may prove to be the dog and
owner we choose.
10. The Tramp - The current tramp we have lined up is Jack Parfitt. He is
meant to be an intertextual reference to 'Witness' as he is wearing the
same clothing and also sports a camera even if now it is just a one use. It
is presumed that after the events of 'Witness' his life went exceptionally
badly which ended him in this position now. That is the presumption
anyway.
11. Fruit Salesman and Co. - Sam Thorpe and his father
are the main contenders for these roles once again for
convenience. Also, Sam's father, Colin, is in possession of
a van which would help us track down the fruit
salesman's van needed in the film.
12. The Business Man - Nick Parfitt is being cast
for this role as he fits the brief, a middle aged
male & affluent business man.
13. Hopefully all these people are on board for the
film and if not, finding replacements will just
be another one of the challenges we'll have to
come across.
