Do you have any suggestions to improve the collection of statistics and the program evaluation?
Since I work on reserve, it would be good to have a radio button about rural or reserve or
indigenous communities.
Do you have any testimonials from parents, caregivers or teachers that may indicate an increased
love of reading?
The additional children’s books were a welcome addition to my daughter’s summer readings. It
gives me and my son an activity to do together. Teaching my child futher English terminology
and exercising the mind. I have been taking books for my niece for 3 years since I started school.
She was a little behind in kindergarten but since I read to her as much as possible her reading
levels improved vastly. The Free Books were amazing!! When my children were younger, we
received books from the College and were so appreciative! Hai Hai Hai! You're helping educate
our young youth kids enjoyed them My grandkids just love to listen to me read to them. They
were greatly appreciated by the community members who picked some up We had a larger
selection of books to choose from when it was time to read. As a sessional social work instructor
at MCC I have always ensured the students are aware of the books and I know many of them
have taken them to use with their children and family members. I have taken some of them to
share with my own family and other families that I know cannot afford to buy books or access

them online. Perhaps I am old fashioned but I feel sitting down with a book and reading with
your children is still a meaningful activity. I have handed these books out at Halloween along
with candy and the children and their parents always comment how wonderful it is to get a book.
I have used them in care packages at Christmas. I think the companies that provide these books
are to be commended for this action. This opportunity provided our families to start a home
library. The books I have taken were given to First Nations children over the summer for their
reading pleasure...it is important to give our children books to read...to help improve their 3'R's
skills...
