part of state tourism. Considered an offbeat
activity to do in Rajasthan, in which will take
you on a graceful journey through the alleys of
traditional Rajasthan.
Some of the places around Jaipur are :
 Samode: some where around 40kms from
Jaipur a 19 century palace showcase a great
blend of Rajput- Mughal architecture.
Visit Rural Rajasthan:
 Khandela : Also called gateway to
Shekhawati, the ancient town situated around
100 kms from Jaipur. Place to stay and eat:
Castel Khandela
 Madhogarh : located 56 kms from Jaipur, the
historical site of Tunga. Place to stay and eat :
Fort Madhogarh.
 Bhandarej: 62 kms from the Jaipur, a an
ancient town. The 11century Bhadrawati
palace is restored and refurnished as a
Heritage hotel.
Visit Rural Rajasthan:
 Abhaneri: somewhere around 95 kms from Jaipur
on the way to Agra, a turnoff from Sikandra to
Bandikui and you will hit this town. It is famous for
large deep tank called Chand Baori. Nearby is
10th century temple of Harshat mata attracting the
tourist with its architect and sculptures. Place to
stay Umaid lake Palace.
 Sambhar : 94kms to the west of Jaipur, the
Sambhar salt lake is shallow wet land at the
junction of Jaipur, Ajmer and Nagaur districts. It is
heaven for bird watchers from Nov- Feb. to watch
pink and white flamingos. Place to stay : Fort
Pachewar Garh.

Some of the places around Alwar are :
 Burja : 7 kms from Alwar on the Rajgarh road at
village Burja nested a 240 year old haveli. Now
converted into a Heritage hotel. Place to stay
Burja Haveli.
 Kesrol: around 20 kms northeast of Alwar there
is a 14th century hill top fort restored into Hotel
now. It a an ideal base to visit Alwar and Sariska
(48kms).
 Dadhikar: A 9-10 century fort built by the family of
King Chand has recently been restored. It is 8kms
from Alwar town.

Places to visit around Bharatpur :
 Deeg: 32 kms from Bharatpur, Deeg was built by
Raja Surjamal in 18 century. An ancient town is
famous for white marvel Surajmal Palace and
water fountain system which is turned on only for
Braj festival.
 Dholpur: About 90kms from Bharatpur and
40kms from Agra, Dholpur has ruins reminding of
Mughal dynasty. Palace built to welcome the then
Prince of Wales in 1876 is main attraction now
turned to Heritage hotel, Raj Niwas Palace. One
can also visit the National Gharial Sanctuary
which is just 35kms from here.

Places to see around Kota:
 Bainsoragarh: It is ideally located between
Ranthambhore- Udaipur and Udaipur – Jaipur
via Bundi(125 kms from Chittorgarh, 50kms
from kota, 90kms from Bundi and 125kms from
Ranthambhore). Place to stay Bainsoragarh
fort.
 Jhalawar: it is about 85kms from south of
Kota. The city of Chandrwati know for its Hindu
and Jain temples. Place to stay: Prithvi Vilas

 Bijola : it is located 50kms from Bundi on the

 Kishangarh: 23kms from Ajmer was capital of
Rajput Prince Kishan Singh. Place to stay :

 Roopnagar : nearly 25kms is the Roopnaagr.

glimpse of everyday life. Stay option :
Roopnagar Fort.
 Shahpura : located about 90kms from Ajmer
and a midway (220kms from both) between

kms from Jaipur.
 Khimsar: 40kms southwest from Nagaur, 500 year old fort in

 Kuchaman: 118 kms from Nagaur lays Kuchaman, on the
ancient silk route with a fort perched atop a steep hill. It is

beautiful 10 century Jain shrine, Muchala Mahavir
temple. Stay option : The Royal Castle.
 Ranakpur: Ranakpur is located 90kms northwest
of Udaipur and 25kms from Kumbalgarh.
Beautifully sculptured Jain temples mark the glory

 Jaisamand: 51kms southeast of Udaipur the Jaisamand lake
is the largest man made artificial lake measuring 14kms in

which links the cities of Udaipur and Ahmedabad. Stay option

highway from Jaipur to Bikaner

 Nawalgarh : 31km northeast of Sikar is Nawalgarh founded
by Nawal singh. This place ahs some of the biggest and well
preserved havelis in the Shekhawati region. The Podar haveli
dting back to 1920 retains some of the finest frescos and
courtyards. Stay Options: Koolwal Kothi, Roop Niwas Kothi.
 Dhundlod : 7km north of Nawalgarh is Dundlod, a small town
dating back to 1750 was built by Thakur Kesri singh. Stay

 Mandawa: Founded in 18th century, a medieval fort here
dominates the town with a painted arched gateway. Typical of
the entire region, the havelis of Mandawa are adorned with
