Railway urban systems are complex interconnected systems combining heterogeneous components (Control system based on some hardware and software components, communication devices and physical plant) One important maintenance function for Alstom is to update a coherent configuration in a secure manner. In this work, this function is performed by the SODA-IIoT infrastructure developed within IRT SystemX. The configuration parameters (firmware, OS, drivers, applications, operation parameters...) of these computational nodes are updated through a blockchain infrastructure (with redundant nodes) and secure gateways (manage access rights and secure communications). In this manner, the integrity of a new configuration is ensured and with high availability.

A blockchain infrastructure, combined with cryptographic signatures, can improve availability and accountability for the deployment of IoT updates. However, cars with limited or intermittent Internet access may have difficulties in downloading full updates from the blockchain. Therefore, we allow cars that successfully downloaded updates to share them with other cars by means of a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) mechanism.

Co-designed with PSA Group and Valeo, SODA-IIoT4Automotive offers a secure way to update automotive ECU software/firmware. Automotive vehicles are composed of several dozens of Electronic Control Units (ECU). With the increasing connectivity of the vehicles, the update of the ECU software will soon be performed Over-The-Air (OTA). This includes the update of the in-vehicle infotainment, but also the more critical ECUs such as the body, motion and Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) ECUs. For PSA and Valeo the accountability and the availability of ECU software updates are crucial, particularly for security patches which require a fast deployment.

This work is about how both private enterprise and government wish to improve their data value and how they deal with this issue. The talk summarizes the way of thinking about Big Data, Open Data and their use by organizations or individuals. Big Data is explained from collecting, storing, analyzing and put in value. This data is collected from numerous sources including sensor networks, government data holdings, company market databases, and public profiles on social networking sites. Organizations use many data analytical techniques to study both structured and unstructured data. Due to the volume, velocity and variety of data, some specific techniques have been developed. MapReduce, Hadoop and other related as RHadoop are trending topic nowadays. Data which come from government must be open. Every day more and more cities and countries are opening their data. Open Data is then presented as a specific case of public data with a special role in Smartcity. The main goal of Big and Open Data in Smartcity is to develop systems which can be useful for citizens. In this sense RMap (Mapa de Recursos) is shown as an Open Data application, an open system for Madrid City Council, avalaible for smarthphones and totally developed by the researching group G-TeC (www.tecnologiaUCM.es).

Design of on-line embedded web server is a challenging part of many embedded and real time data acquisition and control system applications. The World Wide Web is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billion of users worldwide and allows the user to interface many real time embedded applications like data acquisition, Industrial automations and safety measures etc,. This paper approached towards the design and development of on-line Interactive Data Acquisition and Control System (IDACS) using ARM based embedded web server. It can be a network, intelligent and digital distributed control system. Single chip IDACS method improves the processing capability of a system and overcomes the problem of poor real time and reliability. This system uses ARM9 Processor portability with Real Time Linux operating system (RTLinux RTOS) it makes the system more real time and handling various processes based on multi-tasking and reliable scheduling mechanisms. Web server application is ported into an ARM processor using embedded ‘C’ language. Web pages are written by Hyper text markup language (HTML); it is beneficial for real time IDACS, Mission critical applications, ATM networks and more. This is presentation slide for OpenStack Summit Austin 2016. // Abstraction Internet of Things is a hot topic today. Many companies are trying to create new business applications on a concept of IoT such as smart city, connected vehicle or smart grid. The platform for IoT applications has some unprecedented characteristics: (1) needs to accept huge number of connections simultaneously (2) needs to be highly reliable and secure (3) needs to be highly scalable. We have designed, prototyped and evaluated a highly reliable IoT platform for collecting and storing large-scale data. We explained our use case and architecture of IoT platform. We are tackling the following very high requirements during the process of prototyping and evaluating the platform. • Receiving and storing messages from over 10M clients concurrently • Highly reliable architecture of message broking without losing messages • Instant scale-out to process burst traffic rapidly We also discussed how we can adopt OpenStack to IoT backend and share ideas for its enhancement.

A critical step towards smarter and safer cities is to endow them with the abilities to massively gather a wide variety of data sets and to automatically feed those data to decision support tools and applications that leverage artificial intelligence. This involves sensing, communication and networking infrastructure, as well as services, which we currently call Internet of Things. We use examples from the Porto Living Lab infrastructure, specifically UrbanSense and SenseMyCity, to illustrate communication technologies available to collect and share the data, how to use opportunistic communication, and how to address interoperability.
