8. INTRODUCTION
Many Christian believers think that the
prophetic is only for the Apostles, the
Prophets, the Teachers, the Evangelists, the
Pastors and some “special” anointed people;
sadly, they are not able to think of
themselves as being able to flow in this
precious gift of the Holy Spirit.
However the Bible teaches us differently:
9. 1 CORINTHIANS 12:7-11 (NKJV)
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to
each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is
given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to
another the word of knowledge through the
same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same
Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the
same Spirit, 10 to another the working of
miracles, to another prophecy, to another
discerning of spirits, to
another different kinds of tongues, to another
the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and
the same Spirit works all these things,
distributing to each one individually as He wills.
10. HOW CAN WE START THEN?
We must desire to prophesy.
We need to become thirsty and hungry for
the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Ask Him to stir up in you a longing for the
highest gifts.
11. IN OLD TESTAMENT TIMES
Moses Desire was that every one be a
prophet and that the Spirit of the Lord be
upon them.
Remember, at that time the Spirit was
given only to Prophets, Kings and a few
people.
12. NUMBERS 11:29 (NKJV)
29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous
for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD’s
people were prophets and that the LORD
would put His Spirit upon them!”
13. IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
Paul as well encourages us to seek the
spiritual gifts, but especially that we may
prophesy.
Because prophesying brings benefit to the
person prophesying and to the person or
persons to whom the prophecy goes.
It benefits the whole church!
14. 1 CORINTHIANS 14:1-5 (NKJV)
14 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but
especially that you may prophesy. 2 For he who
speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to
God, for no one understands him; however, in the
spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who
prophesies speaks edification and exhortation
and comfort to men. 4 He who speaks in a tongue
edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the
church.
5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more
that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is
greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless
indeed he interprets, that the church may receive
edification.
15. THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS YOU!
Once the Holy Spirit is poured out in a
person,
This person can prophesy.
Prophecy is one of the gifts of the Holy
Spirit.
16. HOLY SPIRIT POURED OUT IN THE OT
Following we have examples of the Holy
Spirit being pour out on a person, as a
consequence of that they prophesy.
Numbers 11:27 (NKJV)
And a young man ran and told Moses, and
said,
“Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the
camp.”
17. IN THE SCRIPTURES BELOW WE SEE THE PROPHET
SAMUEL SPEAKING TO SAUL BEFORE THE SPIRIT
COMING UPON HIM.
1 Samuel 10:5 (NKJV)
After that you shall come to the hill of God
where the Philistine garrison is. And it will
happen, when you have come there to the city,
that you will meet a group of prophets coming
down from the high place with a stringed
instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp
before them; and they will be prophesying.
18. HOLY SPIRIT POURED OUT IN THE OT
1 Samuel 10:6 (NKJV)
Then the Spirit of the LORD will come
upon you, and you will prophesy with
them and be turned into another man.
Proximity to people with anointing will bring it upon you; god will see
your desire and will grant you the precious anointing.
Important as well is the fact that when the Spirit of the Lord comes upon
you, you will be transformed into a new person!
19. FULFILLMENT OF GOD’S PROMISE.
In the New Testament everyone could
prophecy.
Why?
Because the Holy Spirit is poured out on
every believer.
The prophetic gift is inserted in us.
20. COMING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:1-4 (NKJV)
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come,
they were all with one accord in one
place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound
from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled the whole house where they
were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them
divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon
each of them. 4 And they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance.
21. PETER’S SERMON
Acts 2:14-19 (NKJV)
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven,
raised his voice and said to them, “Men of
Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let
this be known to you, and heed my
words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you
suppose, since it is only the third hour of
the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by
the prophet Joel:
