The dreams of King Nebuchadnezzar  You will learn some symbols from these dreams.  You will understand that it’s God who gives power and authority gifting and abilities.  God can set you in uncomfortable places to prepare you for the task he has for you.  He gives you the ability to discern and receive revelation of the plans and secrets of His heart.
  5. 5. A quick look into Daniel’s life  3rd Year King Jehoiakim, King of Juda.  Daniel and his companions decided not to eat from the delicacies of the King’s table.  Not to defile themselves.  Ashpenaz = the master of the eunuchs of Nebuchadnezzar.  Accepted to test them for 10 Days
  6. 6. Daniel 1:17 (NIV)  17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.

Daniel 1:19-20 (NIV)  19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.

King Nebuchadnezzar  In his 2nd year, King Nebuchadnezzar had troubled dreams and his sleep left him.  He summoned:  Magicians  Astrologers  Sorcerers  Chaldeans  None of them could resolve the problem of the King.  Nebuchadnezzar decided to kill all of them.  This would include Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah;

Daniel 2:5 (NKJV)  5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, “My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap.  King Nebuchadnezzar had a very disturbing dream and wanted to be sure the interpretation he received was correct
  10. 10. Meaning of names  Daniel = God is my Judge.  Hananiah = Answered by the Lord.  Mishael = Who is like God.  Azariah = Yaweh help  Nebuchadnezzar = Nebo, protects the crown  Nebo = Babilonian god of wisdom.  Arioch = Long, great, tall; lion like, venerable

Daniel’s buy some time  Daniel 2:18-19New International Version (NIV)  18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven
  12. 12. Daniel 2:24 (NKJV)  Daniel Explains the Dream  24 Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said thus to him: “Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon; take me before the king, and I will tell the king the interpretation.”
  13. 13. Daniel 2:26 (NKJV)  26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?”
  14. 14. Daniel 2:27 (NKJV)  27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.  Wisely Daniel protects the life of the ones destined to be killed
  15. 15. Daniel 2:28 (NKJV)  28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these:  It is God who reveals secrets.
  16. 16. Daniel 2:29 (NKJV)  29 As for you, O king, thoughts came to your mind while on your bed, about what would come to pass after this; and He who reveals secrets has made known to you what will be.  Revelation of things to come

Daniel 2:30 (NKJV)  30 But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart. 1. Humbleness in declaring God greatness. 2. For benefit of every one. 3. The King to know secrets of his heart.
  18. 18. Daniel 2:31-33 (NKJV)  31 “You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you; and its form was awesome. 32 This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.
  19. 19. Daniel 2:34 (NKJV)  34 You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces.  1 Stone representing Jesus  2 Heating the base of the idol  3 Brings down everything in pieces

Daniel 2:35 (NKJV)  35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.  We are in the last line
  21. 21. Definition of Gold  1. a yellow precious metal, the chemical element of atomic number 79, valued especially for use in jewelry and decoration, and to guarantee the value of currencies.  2. a deep lustrous yellow or yellow-brown color.  "her eyes were light green and flecked with gold"
  22. 22. Definition of SILVER  A soft grayish-white metal that is very valuable and is used to make jewelry, coins, knives, forks, etc.  : objects (such as knives, forks, teapots, candlesticks, etc.) that are made of or covered with silver  : coins that are made of silver
  23. 23. Definition of Bronze  1.  a yellowish-brown alloy of copper with up to one-third tin.  verb  1.  make (a person or part of the body) suntanned.  "Alison was bronzed by outdoor life"
  24. 24. Definition of IRON  : a heavy type of metal that is very common, occurs naturally in blood, and is used to make steel and in many products  : a device with a flat metal base that is heated and is used to press wrinkles out of clothing  : a golf club that has a metal head and is identified by a number
  25. 25. Definition of CLAY  1a : an earthy material that is plastic when moist but hard when fired, that is composed mainly of fine particles of hydrous aluminum silicates and other minerals, and that is used for brick, tile, and pottery; specifically : soil composed chiefly of this material having particles less than a specified size  b : EARTH, MUD
  26. 26. Daniel 2:36-38 (NKJV)  36 “This is the dream. Now we will tell the interpretation of it before the king. 37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; 38 and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.
  27. 27. Daniel 2:39 (NKJV)  39 But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.
  28. 28. Daniel 2:40 (NKJV)  40 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.
  29. 29. Daniel 2:41-43 (NKJV)  41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.
  30. 30. Daniel 2:44 (NKJV)  44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
  31. 31. Daniel 2:45 (NKJV)  45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.”
