Goal
Create an assisted living
community that the floor plan is
based on a geometric pattern of
a fabric.
·· Overall space planning should
be simple, minimizing corridors
length and centralizing of the
main common spaces.
·· Age range of residents is
67 - 98. About 23% are
wheelchair-bound.
·· Unit clusters should be a
combination of studio and one-
bedroom apartments.
·· Common spaces to include:
foyer or entry, offices, common
dining room, common living
room, serving kitchen, central
nurses’s office, wellness space
or physical therapy, common
laundry, and garden or
patio space.

Gavin Multi-Generation House
Goal
Design a residential home for a
senior couple that is in need of
moving in with their child. The
home is to be multi-generational
where the senior couple is to
age in place.
·· Work in teams of two.
(Kelly Rodgers)

Client Profile
Barbara Gavin (76)
•	Barbara was diagnosed
with macular degeneration
disease, which left her with
limited amounts of vision out of
her peripherals.
Bill Gavin (85)
•	Bill had a stroke which left him
with limited movement in his
legs and no movement in his
left hand. He needs a cane
to walk and is unable to climb
stairs. Bathroom usage has
become a problem, as he
ages, especially needing help
to get to the bathroom.

piece of furniture for a

·· Colors, textures, patterns and
other architectural finishes
should reflect the historic style
without reproducing an exact
copy of a historic piece.
·· Select textiles that update the
style and yet remain true to the
original intent of the period.

using repeated prismatic forms
as a design source.
·· The house must be comprised
of basic geometrical cell forms
connected to each other in a
compatible manner.
·· Provide floor level changes in
the house to the maximum of
three risers.
·· Interior space to include:
foyer, living area, dining area,
kitchen, master bedroom, two
bathrooms, fireplace, laundry
room, rear and front entrances.

Zac Brown Corporation
Design Statement
Zac Brown is in the process
of creating a new corporate

this space will be a modern
functional design that will help
Zac Brown’s recipes come alive.
Goal
·· Create a company in year
2030, for a celebrity who has
grown older and is looking for
a way to revamp his or her
career.
