• The most common Atlas is the world map

• Bodies of water is called ocean. Geographer have divided
the oceans into 5 oceans. Namely, Arctic Ocean, Atlantic
Ocean, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean
4. Continents
• Large mass of land is called continent. Geographers have
divided the continents into 7 continents.
Namely, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North
America and South America
5. Latitudes
• Latitudes are imaginary horizontal lines that runs in an east
west direction round the Earth. The main latitude on Earth
is the Equator(0°),Tropic Of Cancer(23.5°N),Tropic of
Capricorn(23.5°S),Arctic Circle(66.5°N),Antarctic
Circle(66.5°S),North Pole(90°N) and South Pole(90°S)

• Longitudes are imaginary vertical lines that
runs in a north south direction round the
Earth. Greenwich Meridian A.K.A Prime
Meridian is at 0°
7. Locating places using latitudes and
longitudes
• We write the latitude then longitude of the
place to find the exact places.
