The document provides instructions for replicating several celebrity hairstyles, including Charlize Theron's curled updo, Jessica Alba's side ponytail, Jennifer Lawrence's braided bun, Blake Lively's braided ponytail, and Scarlett Johansson's pin-up curls. Celebrity hairstylists from Dubai salons demonstrate how to achieve these looks with a few simple steps like prepping and sectioning the hair, curling or braiding sections, and securing with pins or ties. Products recommended to style the hair and hold the looks in place are also mentioned.

Ever wish you could replicate the
fabulous hairstyles of Hollywood
starlets but don’t have a personal
stylist on speed dial? These up-do’s
may look complicated, but they are
surprisingly easy to achieve. Dubai’s
top stylists show us how...
Mariya Sorokina, Davines’ artistic team ambassador for the UAE,
recreates Charlize Theron’s feminine, romantic, look.
• Spray No14 Sea Salt Primer for
Wizards by Davines on each section
of the hair. Rough-dry the hair
using fingers and a paddle brush.
• Separate the hair into two
sections – front, from the hair line
to the ears, and back. Find your
natural side parting and pin.
• Start curling at the nape of the neck
and work upwards towards the crown –
use a curling iron with a large diameter
barrel. Continue working upwards – the
thickness of each section should not be
wider than the diameter of the barrel.
• Apply a small amount of No10
Universal Polishing Coat for Wizards
by Davines on a natural bristle brush.
Smoothly brush the hair to stretch
the curls and remove fly-aways.
Bring all the hair to one side and
then tie a loose ponytail with elastic.
Roll the ponytail up asymmetrically
to create an undone bun. Secure
the bun with hair grips. When the
structure is steady, carefully cut the
elastic and remove. Make sure one
side at the front is loose and covers
the ear moving towards the bun. The
other side should be tighter. Spray
the Defining Glam Power Spray by
Davines 30cm away from the hair.
• Accessorise with a hair band on
the top front section. Finish with
hair spray to secure the look.

Alex Rodrigues, senior stylist at JetSet, shows us
how to get Jessica Alba’s sophisticated side ponytail.
• Wash and blow-dry
your hair very straight.
If necessary, use
straightening irons to get
the poker-straight look.
Finish with a smoothing
serum such as All Soft
Argan 6 from Redken.
• To get the parting in
the right place, look at the
shape of your eyebrows.
Part the hair in line with
where your eyebrow peaks,
sweep it across and tuck
behind the other ear.
Separate this top section
with clips.
• French braid the
smaller section from the
ear all the way around to
the nape of the neck or
lower hair line (this may
take a little practice).
Secure the end with a
hair grip.
• Brush the hair from the
top and sweep it to the
side and set with spray.
• Use a hair band to
create a side ponytail. Take
a section of hair from the
ponytail and wrap around
the band to hide it, secure
with a grip.

2. Alex Rodrigues explains how Jennifer Lawrence’s braided
bun is actually easy to copy.
• After washing, use a mousse
such as Redken Body Full
Instant Bodifier Mousse to
create volume and make the
hair slightly stiffer so it’s easier
to style. Blow-dry your hair to
create body and texture but
avoid drying it very straight.
• Make a loose ponytail in the
middle at the back of the head
and secure with a band. Leave
some hair loose around the front
to frame and soften the look.
• If your hair is fine and you
want the bun to look full, try
using clip-in extensions to
add volume to the braid.
• Select some thread, sparkly
rope, ribbon or even a necklace
to braid into the hair and
attached it to the band.
• Divide the hair into three
pieces and do a classic braid
right to the end of the hair, before
securing with another band.
• Make a chignon or bun
with the braid by snaking it
around and pinning it, making
sure you conceal the end of
the braid within the bun.
• Finish with some setting
spray to make sure your style
stays red-carpet-tastic for the
whole evening!

Channel your inner Blake Lively with these tips
from Mariya Sorokina.
• Dampen the hair with
No9 Structuring Mist for
Wizards by Davines on
sections of the hair.
• Keep your chin up and
use a fine-tooth comb to
bring all the hair together
about 2cm below the
crown and tie a ponytail.
• If your hair is shoulder
length, use a clip-in
extension piece (40-
60cm long). Twist the
extension around your
ponytail and secure
it with hair grips. The
extension piece should
be prepared before
with the structuring
mist to give it texture.
Section the hair into
three parts for the
French braid and one
smaller section to cover
the elastic at the top.
Start braiding the hair,
allowing layered pieces
to naturally fall out.
• Once the braid is
complete, use your
hands to massage the
hair at the ends for a
natural look. Blast the
braid with hair spray to
hold it in place. Take
the small section that
was kept aside to cover
the elastic and twist it
around the top of
the braid. Secure it
with a hair grip.
Apply a small amount
of serum on a natural
bristle brush to
smooth any fly-aways
on the crown.
• Spray Defining
Glam Power Spray by
Davines all over to
keep the style in place.

3. Mariya Sorokina gives us the low-down on how to create
Scarlett Johansson’s pretty, vintage-inspired up ’do.
• To prep, wash and towel-dry
your hair and spray No14 Sea Salt
Primer for Wizards by Davines
from roots to the tips to create
texture. Flip your hair to the side
of your head, blow-dry and comb
through with a flat brush, directing
it against your natural parting.
• Before curling, section your
hair. To help set the style, gather
the front section of hair (about
3cm below the crown) and split
into two sections with a low side
parting. Secure all sections with
clips so you can concentrate
on one section at a time...

The
Nino Yammine, style director at JetSet, explains
how to get Lucy Liu’s award-worthy fishtail braid.
• Roughly blow-dry the
hair using a heat protecting
spray or serum.
• Make a parting on the right
side of the hair and start to
make a French braid from the
left side down to the neck.
Repeat on the other side.
• Sweep the remaining hair
to one side. If your hair is
not long enough, use a clip-
on hair extension to create
a length to the side.
• To fishtail the braid,
divide this piece of hair into
two large sections. Pull a
thin strand of hair from the
outside of the left section.
Pull it over the top of the
left section, and then under
the right section. The strand
of hair has now gone over
the left section and finishes
under the right section.
• Repeat this step on the
other side, pulling a fresh
strand of hair from the right
section. Continue these
steps on alternate sides
until you get to the end of
the braid. Fasten with a cute
Kitsch hair tie.
Take 3cm horizontal
sections of hair,
starting at the nape,
and curl. Roll each
curl, pin it and let it
cool for 10 minutes.
Remove the clips and
softly brush the hair
with a natural bristle
oval brush. Apply a
small amount of serum
to stop any fly-aways.
Gather the hair at the
back of the head and
separate into two.
Twist the hair one side
at a time, directing it
towards the centre.
Tie a low ponytail with
elastic and then use
a small pin to pull out
random hair strips
in order to create a
natural texture.
Bring the ponytail up
and secure it with hair
grips in desired shape.
Use grips that match
your hair colour and
hide them well.
Pull pieces of hair
around your face, if
desired. Finish with
a spritz of hair laquer
to hold everything in
place. Voila!
