How To Create Video Slideshows Using Animoto

Today we are going to learn
how to:

turn your photos, video clips, and
music into video slideshows

using an amazing application that
makes awesome easy.

It is a cloud-based application that
provides video creation service.

This application is called Animoto.

Let’s begin learning
about Animoto!

On your desktop,
open your favorite web browser like
Google Chrome

Google Chrome home page is shown

On the address bar, type
https://animoto.com

Then press ENTER key on your
keyboard

Animoto home page is shown

To create your trial account,
click Get Started

Start your trial page is shown

You can sign up using Facebook

Or through Email

Let’s register
via Email

Enter your Email

Enter your Full Name

Enter your Password

Click Start Trial

You are redirected to Animoto
dashboard

In Personalize your experience
window, select Personal Use

Click Submit

To start creating your
first video,
answer the question

What kind of video you want to
create?

Choose Slideshow Video, click Create

There are three easy steps we
need to accomplish

to be able to create our first video.

STYLE > CREATE > PRODUCE

1. Select a STYLE

Select among the several choices
available in Animoto

For this video, click School category

Select The Arena

A preview of the style is
automatically played

You can change the color, select red

To proceed, click Create Video

Welcome to Animoto message is
prompted, click Skip

2. CREATE your video

In this step you can do the
following:

a. Upload your photos or video clips
b. Add texts
c. Add background song

Let’s first add photos for your video

Click Add pics & vids

If you prefer, you can upload from
different sources

But for now, click Upload to choose
from your computer

Select the photos you want to add

Click Open

Wait until your photos finished
uploading

You can arrange these photos by
drag-and-drop method

To do that, click the photo you want
to move

Hold it and move your mouse to
drag the photo

The photo is being dragged

Voila! The photo is now rearranged

You can also add caption in each
photo

Click the gear icon

Click Add a caption

Type your caption

Then click Save

The caption is saved successfully

You can directly edit your photos in
Animoto too!

To do that, click the gear icon again

Click the Edit Photo icon

1. To change photo’s orientation,
click Orientation

You can rotate the photo

Mirror the photo

Or tilt the photo by moving the
white circle

Click Apply for any changes

2. To crop the photo, click Crop

You can identify your custom size by
typing the dimensions

You can also move the white circles
to crop the photo

Or simply select from the available
sizes

3. To change the color of the photo,
click Color

Then adjust the saturation, warmth,
tint and fade of the photo
v

4. To change the lighting of the
photo, click Lighting

Then adjust the brightness, contrast,
highlights and shadows of the photo
v

5. To change the sharpness of the
photo, click Sharpness

Then manually adjust the sharpness
of the photo

5. To reduce red spots in the eyes,
click Redeye

First, select the size of the brush

Then brush the affected area

You can include messages to your
video by inserting texts

To do that, click Add text

On the pop-up window, enter the
title and subtitle

Click Save

The text is successfully added

If you want a specific photo,
video or text

to be shown longer than the others,
spotlight those items

To do that, select the items

Then click Spotlight

The items are now spotlighted

You can also rotate, duplicate,
shuffle or delete photos
v

And you can duplicate, shuffle or
delete but not rotate texts
v

To perform deletion, select first the
item to be deleted

click Delete

To confirm deletion, click the Delete
button

By default, your selected style has a
song already

But you can still change it, just click
Change Song

Hover over the selected song

Then click Select

You can also select from the full
library of Animoto

Just click Browse Full Library

Then choose from all available songs
in the music library

Or if the song is not available in the
library

You can upload from your computer,
click Upload Song

Select a music from your computer,
then click Open

If you want to edit the song and its
pacing

Click the gear icon on the right side
of the song

You can trim the song

And adjust the image pacing

Then click Save

To adjust the settings of your video

Click on Settings

You can update the Video Title,
Producer, Date and Description

And even change the Thumbnail

Then click Save

Reminder!
Always save your work to avoid loss

Click Save on the upper right side

And wait until your work is
successfully saved

Once you’re done creating your
video

You are ready to go to the last step

3. PRODUCE your
video

Click Preview Video

Wait while generating the preview

After watching the preview, click
Produce

You can update again the Title, Date,
Producer Name and Description

Select the video quality

Finally, click Finish

Wait until your video finalizes

You’re video is now finalized

To have a copy of the video, click
Download

Select Video quality

Select location where to save the
video

Then click Save

Wait until your video finished
downloading and you’re good to go!

Congratulations!

You have successfully created your
first video slideshow.
