29. Marlabs Case Study
Client Provider of Solar and Smart Grid Solutions
Need Constant monitoring of installed solar panels to make sure that they are generating energy and are
accurately communicating.
Detecting any panel outages
Marlabs Solution Built a Network Monitoring System (NMS) portal which receives panel data, analyzes it, and
produces alerts based on customizable rules.
By issuing commands to panels, the NMS can help obtain a quick snapshot or additional “on
demand” data. Advanced UI and dashboard widgets provide detailed monitoring functionality.
Through a Google Maps interface, panels can be viewed on the portal from a geospatial context.
A summary dashboard view of all installed panels in the field shows device status and alerts.
Comprehensive security features were added to the system, at the user as well as widget levels.
Developed as a configurable, multi-customer solution, each individual end-customer can leverage
the NMS portal to keep track of all their numerous, geographically distributed solar panels.
Benefits Accelerates solar panel deployment
Streamlines response to system failures
Raises power quality and grid reliability
Increases rate of asset utilization
Augments control over the solar network
Ensures stable source of solar energy
Technology Platform Java, JEE, JBoss
