NASA SCIENTIST INVESTIGATION OF IMAGE

the Five-hundred year-old tilma cloth of a native Aztec
-Our Lady of Guadalupe: What ophthamologists discovered in Mary’s eyes – Catholic Business Journal
In 1979, when working with digitized high-resolution images of
the tilma magnified 2,500 times, Dr. Jose Aste Tonsmann
discovered that in addition to the human bust others had seen
previously, other human figures were reflected in the Virgin's
eyes -- a total of thirteen people. The same people are present
in both the left and right eyes, in different proportions, as
would happen when human eyes reflect the objects before
them.
Tonsmann said he believes the reflection transmitted by the
eyes of the Virgin of Guadalupe is the scene on Dec. 9, 1531,
during which Juan Diego showed his tilma, with the image
imprinted on it. (The OLG abbreviation is used, Our Lady of
Guadalupe throughout our paper.)

Evidence of Glass In Guadalupe Image
When the material was examined, under a laser
ray, it was shown that there is no coloration on
the front or the back of the cloth, and the colors
hover at a distance of 3/10th of a millimeter
(1/100th of an inch) over the cloth, without even
touching it – the colors actually float above the
surface of the tilma.
In the year 1791, muriatic acid accidentally spilled
on the upper right side of the tilma. During the
period of 30 days, without any special treatment,
the affected fabric re-constituted itself
miraculously.
It is remarkable that in over four centuries there is
no fading or cracking of the original figure on any
portion of the ayate tilma, which being unsized,
should have deteriorated centuries ago" (Mary of
the Americas, p. 92).
