OPERATORS
• These individuals
monitor and execute
computer programs
necessary for the
operation of several
businesses.
• The data center is
staffed 7x24.
Administrators and
Programmers are
called-out when
problems with
programs occur.

3. ADMINISTRATORS
These individuals maintain the computer operating
systems, database, network, system software, and
the configuration of these assets.

4. PROGRAMMERS
These are the individuals that write and maintain
the software programs required for businesses to
operate. They work in close concert with
Administrators and Operators.

5. RE-HOSTING TO OTHER
PLATFORMS
Changing business requirements often require Mainframe
based software to either be scaled to other Mainframe
hardware or be re-hosted to newer technology platforms.
Sometimes even a hybrid of multiple environments is
utilized.

6. THE CLOUD –
THE FUTURE
• Cloud has emerged as a
pervasive platform for
delivering applications to
businesses.
• In the future we will see
less data centers
operated by businesses
as we did in the 1990s
and more data centers
operated as 3rd Party
Cloud Providers.
