Trinity completed this prestigious £2million JP Morgan
plant replacement project in September ‘11. Acting as
the main contractor, the works involve extensive heavy
crane lifts over circa 8 weekends. Pre‐construction
activities/in‐depth surveys, validations and conditional
reports.
The works involved the replacement of the existing
four roof mounted chillers in a phased manner with
four new units and associated electrical supply
installations, relocation of existing roof plant and
equipment to facilitate the new and revised chiller
gantry locations, modification to existing lighting, small
power, fire alarm and security system services, test and
commission all works.
The new chiller load was to provide 3No. chiller
machines each rated at nominally 1,568kW + 1No.
standby machine rated at 1,568kW providing N1
resilience each chiller was supplied with two harmonic
filter units.
The critical parts of these works were the logistics
regarding the craneage of materials/plant etc. on and
off the roof. Due to road closures this had to be pre‐
booked and schedule 6‐8weeks in advance. The other
critical item of works was re‐routing and diversion of
existing live critical mechanical and electrical services
whilst maintaining operation of the building and the
services retaining downtime to an absolute minimum.
As main contractor on this project Trinity also
incorporated within our works the required builders
work, steel work, visual and acoustic screens,
scaffolding and craneage. With these elements of
works also came the responsibility of Health & Safety.
During the whole of the works Trinity worked very
closely with the clients team, consultants and in house
maintenance team to ensure scheme was developed
to provide sufficient access for maintenance. This also
ensured that the project was delivered on time and
without any major issues or instances.
