1. 4) How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Physical Media Our group employed the use of a HD Video camera to film our music video and used a HD Stills Camera to capture our album stills. The cameras that we filmed with used SD cards as opposed to film which is an example of new media technology and it made it easier for our group when transferring from camera to computer.
2. Digital Media The main programs that our group made use of throughout our project were Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Premier CS4 The key program that enabled us to make our album was Photoshop. As time went on our skills with the program increased as we learned new techniques and mastered the tools. Even the very basic elements of Photoshop were useful such as being able to size the backgrounds to exact dimensions
3. Photoshop We used Photoshop's burn and dodge tools to darken and lighten skin colours respectively. This was an important skill we learned as the studio lighting sometimes left our actors with differing skin tones. We also used the clone tool to touch up the images we took by making small edits such as adding more hair or removing unwanted imagery.
4. Premiere Adobe Premier was the main program used to create our music video. Using the layering and text overlay utilities we added in a logo and the song title to the video footage in accordance with the traditions of music videos. We had to master the use of the ‘cut and stitch’ tools for us to be able to properly edit clips. We also used transitioning effects to make clips flow smoothly together.
5. Other Blogger, an example of a new media technology, was used to create and order our internet blogs that documented the process of creating our music video and album. When we were taking audience feedback we used Audacity to record their voices so we could evaluate their feedback later.
