2. • Throughout the course of producing the media platforms: music video, digi-pak and
poster, we constantly received audience feedback which were very beneficial in
making decisions and changing things for improvement, for the final end product. As
a group when receiving are audience feedback we wanted to make the sure the
demographic we was targeting was included because they are the target for the
artist.
• At the very start of the project when we presented the pitch for our female Pop
artist to our class for the first time we received audience feedback from people who
knew the Pop genre well because of it being a main stream genre. This allowed us
before we had begun creating anything to see if our artist really did fit into the Pop
genre and if it was a believable artist. From this feedback it was mixed but the main
positive points we took from it was that our idea for the music video at the time had
potential and the profile of the artist. However constructive criticism was given
which I believe was a benefit to us and to me individually, the narrative was not
clear enough to understand and at that point we had no images of from the digi-
paks. From this very first audience feedback I believe it gave me and the group to
know what we had to improve and know what specific parts to target. In addition
after this we made a second pitch presentation which we took on the on board the
constructive criticism and improved our presentation and our artist.
• We also posted the first draft of our music video on to YouTube and asked friends
that I knew who match the target demographic to watch and comment on the music
video of what they thought. This was done so we could take some more feedback
from the comments and take this into consideration to make improvements.
3. • With our brand new second draft of the music video yet again used the same
method of collecting audience feedback by using our fellow classmates and
teachers. From this feedback it highlighted that the actress playing the role of
our artist was not believable when lip syncing was not emotional enough
compared to how it should be and there was not footage to real fully
understand the concept. However the new footage we had of the narrative
scene had the most positive feedback. Therefore after a group chat we made
sure we kept the high level performance of the ballet dancer in the video but
also we ended up recasting for the role of our artist we ended up having a new
artist for the final video.
• Towards the end of the production of making the music video we had a rough
cut final draft we showed a large class of both media classes, using this method
of receiving audience feedback by having people who don’t know us could
cause them to reluctant in giving criticism in case they believed it was to harsh.
However we did not find this with the audience feedback given. Most issues
came up again with our second actress playing the role of the artist in video of
her not being emotional enough. More over, again the positive praise was
towards the narrative and ballet dancing in the music video. Then we again for
the final time re cast the artist again which we used her for the final video
which I think was the best decision we made which come from the audience
feedback.
• Overall general feedback we received throughout the creation of the music
video from screenings was that audience enjoyed the mix of the narrative and
the idea of the performance from the artist relating to the lyrics of the song.
We did challenge the conventions of female Pop artist music videos of there
just being a main focus on the artist throughout the whole video, where it
came out to be more successful as we had a more creative music video. In
addition other feedback we got was showing in the video that having the
narrative scenes in black and white worked showing that it was in the past.
However we did receive constructive o our group trying to show that the young
girl’s narrative is the artist singing about her past and we did not show this
clearly enough. At the end of the editing process of the video we decided to
change the opacity of both the artist performance and the ballet dancing to
show this connection.
4. • Receiving audience feedback really helped and gave me new ideas when designing my digi-pak and poster. Once I
had created my first draft of my digi-pak we screened them to the class to get their feedback on specific things to
improve and get an overall opinion on it. After showing them my first draft I repeated positive comments on the
pictures I was using for my digi-pak because they worked and were beautiful. However I did receive criticism on
them that they were all plain studio shots. From this I did a re shot at a local park to have a new background scene
for the digi-pak these worked really well I believe and one of my teachers commented on it when I was working on
it in the Mac Room.
• Moreover for the original typography that we as a group decided for the title of the album that we would include
on the digipak .We did a tally chat survey in the Mac room which was full of a mix of year 12 and 13 media students
who had an idea of what we was creating and we before hand told them it was a for a Pop album. By these
participants completing the survey we found a majority favourite so I used this for my first draft, however my
personal preference I decided to be individual and chose my own.
