• It is important so that
we will learn how to apply
it in our own nails the
different nail designs
that can increases the
beauty of the nails by
making them appealing
and beautiful.

• In painting, cloth that
they use for painting is called
canvas. But here in Beauty
nail Care our canvas is our
fingernails. We will beautify
and decorate our nails with
the use of nail tools and nail
polish. You can make your
fingernails creative with
design. (MAPEH/ARTS)

• The more design you make to your
customers/clients, the higher price will
be paid. So, it means it will increase the
value compare to a basic or plain
manicure only. It cost much now adays
to have designs in our nails. Some salons
will ask 150.00 and above per design. In
that way, if you will learn from this
lesson and master yourself in designing
your nails, you can earn your own income
and you can help your family or
sustaining yourself. (Math/ESP)

• At the end of the lesson,
students are expected to apply
the 3 different basic nail designs
which are plain manicure, half
moon and half moon with tip
designs through their own nails.
Their performance will be rated
according to the rubric given.

MANICURE, HALF MOON
AND HALF-MOON WITH
TIP

DEMONSTRATION

Tools and materials to be used:
 Cuticle Pusher
 Cotton
 Acetone
 Nail Polishes
 Base coat
 Top coat
 Band aids as a marker(hack)

PLAIN MANICURE

1. Apply base coat.
Select color of the nail polish according to
the customer’s requirements
Apply the base coat with long strokes.
Start with the little finger and working
toward the thumb.
Allow it to dry
2. Apply liquid polish.
Apply the polish lightly and quickly, using
sweeping strokes from the base to the free
edge of the nail.
Apply polish down at the center of the nail,
to the right and left side of the nail
Repeat second coat of polish to both hands.

3. Remove excess polish.
Dip a cotton-tipped
orangewood stick into nail polish
remover.
Apply it carefully around the
cuticles and nail edges.
4. Apply top or seal coat.
Apply a top or seal coat with
long strokes in the same
manner as the base coat.

Note: Make sure that
you have already have
a plain manicure design
in your finger before
we can apply Half-
moon design.

HALF-MOON NAIL DESIGN

Step 1: By using the band aid as our
marker, cut in half first and place and
paste it on your Lunula or base facing the
oval shape of the band aid down. Be sure
that it sticks around.
Step 2: Polish your nail plate that was
not covered by the band aid with your
choice colored nail polish. Remove the
excess nail polish with the used of cuticle
pusher. Then let it dry.
Step 3: When it dry, slowly peel off
the band aid on your lunula or base. And
apply top coat and let it dry.

Step 1: Repeat the step by step procedure in
making the Half-moon nail design.
Step 2: Then, place and paste the other half of
the band aid right above your free edge.
Step 3: Polish your nail plate that was not
covered by the band aids with your choice colored nail
polish. Remove the excess nail polish with the used of
cuticle pusher. Then let it dry.
Step 3: When it dry, slowly peel off the band
aids on your lunula or base and to your near free edge
part of the nail plate. And apply top coat and let it
dry.
