Overview of VIN number break down Key Points >>>>> Truck VIN can be found on the Left Top of Frame Rail forward of rear engine mount…stamped on by frame supplier >>>>> In drivers side door jam after truck has been thru CRC >>>>> Numbers 12 thru 17 the last six is used to track truck thru system and for parts call outs and kitting ETC….
Complete Truck leaves the facility and is ready for service Incomplete truck is missing at least one major component ( Engine, Transmission and or Rear Axles ) Incomplete trucks are called glider trucks.. They are used to repair wrecked trucks in the field and are built according to original specs.. Meaning you cant upgrade a old Century Class Truck to use a new DD15 engine.. It most be built to the specs of the year it was manufactured.
Vehicle Classification 4x2 four wheel positions and two Driven.. Driven means that engine power is transmitted to the wheels 4x4 four wheel positions and four driven… Which is a two-axle truck all wheel drive 6x2 six wheel positions and two driven …. Which is a three-axle truck with one driven and dead\\tag axle 6x4 six wheel positions and four driven….. Which is a three axle truck with two-axle driven KEY POINT >>>>>>6x4 is Cleveland Most Common Fleet Truck…… Origin of the name fifth wheel came from the days when trucks only had 2 axles or 4 wheel positions ( 4 Tires Then ).. It was needed to hook up to a pull along trailer, thus then named the fifth wheel, it was a non rotating wheel mounted to the chassis that allowed the trailer to rotate on through the use of a pin ( King Pin ).
A Cascadia 125 will measure just over 125 inches from front bumper to rear of the door, as would be seen on a day cab.. And does not included the sleeper.. True measure would be with bumper removed, that is why it is called a 125 and not a 126 COE do not use the same method only conventional cabs.. Cascadia models are 125 day cab , 125 sleeper and 113 day cab and 113 sleeper cab Day cab is slang term used by truckers for trucks with out a sleeper berth.. ( BED )
Detroit Diesel Engines comes under name badge DD13 , DD15 and DD16 … The DD stands for Detroit Diesel and the numbers indicates the displacement size of the engine in liters. All engines come from Detroit, Michigan the Daimler bought the remaining shares of the company from Roger Penske in 2000, making Detroit Engine Proprietary engine to DTNA.. No other truck manufacture can buy or install a Detroit engine. History of Detroit http://www.detroitdiesel.com/about/history.aspx Cummins Engine comes in ISX 15 which is a 15 liter engine We also use a smaller ISL 11.9 liter as well a ISX 15 liter export
