Definition of Terms
Color Rendering – The ability of a light source to produce colors of surfaces accurately. A color rendering
index (RA) is used to describe this performance of a lamp.
Color Temperature – This is the apparently visible color of the light source and ios often categorized as
Warm, Cool and Daylight. The color temperature is defined in degrees K (Kelvin).

Definition of Terms
An adequate level of uniformity is required to create balanced lighting conditions so that people’s eyes and the television cameras do not
continually have to adapt to a different light level.
Ideally the pitch surface should appear uniformly lit. Free from, exaggerated bright or dark patches in order to create stable visual
conditions for people, television or photographic systems.
U1 limits the total range over which a person or camera
must visually adapt and therefore contributes to visual
performance.
Minimum pitch illuminance E min
U1 = =
Maximum pitch illuminance E max
U2 defines the difference between the adapted state of a
person's eye and the darkest point of the pitch and
therefore contributes to visual comfort.
Minimum pitch illuminance E min

Average pitch illuminance E ave

Definition of Terms
Glare Rating – A calculation method assessing the maximum
glare point is the glare rating of a football field. Glare Ratings
should not exceed GR = "50" for any position on the pitch.
Grid Points – Place a 5m x 5m grid in the whole
field which is the same to be calculated by
DIALux and during commissioning are the same
points to measure for horizontal, vertical,
uniformity ratio and gradient.
Ideal Acceptable Unbearable
Below are the FIFA recommended 11 grid points for Glare Rating
Assessment but you can also use same 5m x 5m grid points if needed.

TIPS TO AVOID & LIMIT GLARE
Viewing angles Avoid installing Floodlights on No-
Floodlight Zones
Luminaire Tilt
Angle
Limit the Aiming Angle:
~ Outdoor: Max of 70°
~ Indoor: Max of 60°
Luminaire Optics &
Optional Accessories
It is important to aim appropriately
based on beam type. Also to use
optional accessories like glare hoods,
barn covers, louvers, etc.
Light Source
Intensity
Use the appropriate luminaire wattage that
does not go over the intended lighting
level.
