Chicago  Arts  Partnerships  in  Education
2013
Annual  Report
creativity  through  research-based,  arts  driven  education.
CAPE   works   toward   a   future   in   which   young   people   are   empowered,
through  education  and  the  arts,  to  fully  realize  their  academic,  creative
and  personal  potential.
OUR  MISSION
OUR  VISION
OUR  WORK  IN  SCHOOLS
CAPE  inspires  students  to  be  passionate  about  their  education  by  weaving
visual   and   performing   arts   into   their   classroom   lessons.   To   bring   their
academic   subjects   to   life   through   art,   we   partner   professional   teaching
artists  with  Chicago  Public  School  teachers  to  develop  original,  creative
lesson  plans.  These  lessons  integrate  music,  dance,  drama,  digital  art,  video
and  photography  into  classrooms;  and,  they  also  expand  learning  beyond
school  walls  into  community  sites  like  art  studios,  performance  halls  and
exhibit  spaces.

CAPE's   unique   approach   to   enhancing   education   with   the   arts   better
engages   students,   improves   their   understanding   of   content,   and   boosts
their   grades.   CAPE   even   commissions   long-term   research   to   show   that
thinking,  self-esteem,  and  confidence.
OUR  IMPACT  ACROSS  CHICAGO
Our   teachers   and   teaching   artists   spent   15,217   HOURS   thinking,
planning,  teaching,  reflecting,  and  sharing  together
4300   STUDENTS   learned   math,   science,   language   arts,   and   history   by
dancing,  painting,  singing,  sculpting,  and  shooting  photo  and  video.
143  TEACHERS  developed  new  skills  and  ideas  for  their  classrooms
62  TEACHING  ARTISTS  shared  new  perspectives  and  tools
48  SCHOOLS  were  energized  and  supported  by  CAPE  partnerships
