2. Facts about Lil Wayne
• Lil Wayne aka Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans,
Louisiana. Lil Wayne, at the age of 11, shot himself accidentally with his Step Dads gun. This
put him on life support for 2 weeks, which was very bad timing since this was the time he
was about to be signed to the Hot Boys. He started off his rap career with a group called the
Hot Boys releasing 3 albums, where he built a name and reputation to release his own album
called Tha Block is Hot(1999). He went on to be the co founder of Cash Money Records, only
to become the owner and founder of Young Money Entertainment.
• To date, Lil Wayne has released 10 studio albums, all of which have received honors and
awards. These albums include the Carter series, and the I Am Not A Human Being Series (
the most successful/popular of them all). He is Currently working on (which could be) his last
album called the Carter V, which would finish off the infamous Carter series.
• Lil Wayne has experiences some bumps in the road, which include drug/legal problems. In
2006, he was arrested in an Atlanta Hotel due to the smell of marijuana coming from his
room. The room was searched and both Xanax and Hydrocodone (along with weed) were
found. In 2008, his tour bus was searched in Yuma, Arizona and both weed, cocaine and
Ecstasy were found. The biggest bump in the road came in 2010, which was a gun possesion
charge Lil Wayne was hit with, putting him in Rikers prison for a year after an incident from
2007.
4. My Opinion
• Lil Wayne has been at the top of the rap game since 1999. He has dealt
with a lot since then, including legal troubles and drug problems.
However, he was still able to stay on top of the rap game through all of it
and release some of the best albums ever released by a rap artist. I have
been listening to Lil Wayne ever since Go DJ, a song off of his first Carter
album. Since then I have always listened to him, and since then I have
believed he is the best in the game and one of the best of all time. Lil
Wayne has changed rap, for the better or the worse is anyone's opinion,
but, in my opinion, he has changed it for the better. I look forward to his
new album coming out soon, and I know it will be the biggest album in
years.
