Working group session Three working groups – general questions • Review 2012 workplan for selected objective/activity • Comment on feasibility, and suggest any changes • Suggest detail of the proposed activity for 2012. • Identify who should be involved and what they might be doing? • Write down your suggestions to present back to the workshop • Address specific questions
- 4. Working group 1 • Objective 1 – proposed 2012 activities 1. Mozambique tilapia • Work with households with active participation of women to test improvements for existing ponds • Specific questions – Review the manual – what would be your priority things to try for improvement? – What type of data should be collected during each improvement trial, and why? 2. Milkfish feasibility study • Prepare feasibility study on milkfish aquaculture for domestic fish supply • Specific questions – What makes a good milkfish fry collection site? – From your knowledge, where are the potential sites for collecting milkfish fry (mark on a map!)? – Do you know any ponds or tanks that might be suitable for “nursing” milkfish fry? – What should be included in a milkfish feasibility study?

Models for fish seed supply for milkfish and/or tilapia • Develop system as appropriate for milkfish fry collection and distribution • Depending on outcome of Nile tilapia risk analysis, develop hatchery plans 2. Identify on-farm and off-farm fertilisers and suitable recommendations • Develop system as appropriate for milkfish fry collection and distribution • Depending on outcome of Nile tilapia risk analysis, develop hatchery plans 3. Start design and testing of products and processes for knowledge dissemination • Review existing systems • Identify and test ways to improve communication • Specific questions – How to communicate research findings to farmers and households? – How, and what types of products can be tried? – Who should be involved in knowledge dissemination? 2. Monitoring and evaluation – How should the impacts of our activities be monitored and evaluated? 3. Brainstorm - what do we need to be thinking and doing together over the next 4 years to meet 2015 fish demand?
