John Snow showed that Cholera was spread through contaminated water, and disproved the then popular Miasma Theory. In the summer of 1854, there was a cholera outbreak in Soho, which is a neighborhood in London, England. From August 31 to September 3, 127 people died as a result of contracting cholera.
Throughout history, there have been multiple achievements in the public health sector.
