It means delivery of all financial services at
affordable costs to section of disadvantaged and
low-income segments of society.
In constrast to FINANCIAL EXCLUSION where
those services are not available or affordable.
3. Goals of Financial inclusion
1) Access at a reasonable cost for all households to a full range of
financial services, including savings or deposit services, payment
and transfer services, credit and insurance etc.
2) Sound and safe institutions governed by clear regulation and
industry performance standards.
3) Financial and institutional sustainability, to ensure continuity
and certainty of investment.
4)Competition to ensure choice and affordability for clients.
4. About MUDRA
• MUDRA bank is new institution setup by the Government
of India for development of micro units and refinance of
MFIs to encourage entrepreneurship in India & provide the
funding to non corporate small business sector.
• Under the guidelines of PMMS,MUDRA Bank has launched
its three initiative product.
• SHISHU
• KISHOR
• TARUN
Classification is to signify the stage of growth and funding
needs of the micro units or entrepreneur.
5. Types Of MUDRA Scheme
Shishu covers loans up to Rs 50,000
while Kishor covers above Rs 50,000 and up to
Rs 5 lakh.
Tarun category provides loans of above Rs 5
lakh and up to Rs 10 lakh.
6. Steps taken by the Government of India
as Financial Inclusion Through MUDRA
• The present Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) with focus
on financing 5.75 crore self-employed provides loans between
Rs 50,000-Rs 10 lakh to small entrepreneurs.
• It has been introduced for development and refinancing
activities relating to micro units. The scheme provides refinance
to banks and other institutions at 7%.
• During the current fiscal, banks will disburse about Rs 1.22 lakh
crore to small business units under PMMY.
7. • Rs 1,22,188 crore during 2015-16 for MUDRA
loans and the banks have already disbursed Rs
15,566 crore as on August 17 to more than 20
lakh borrowers under PMMY.
• Mega credit camps across the country between
September 25, and October 2, for PMMY loans so
that maximum number of borrowers could get
credit as per their requirement under the three
categories of loans.
