INTRODUCTION
An environment impact assesment (EIA) is an assessment
of the possible positive or negative impact that a proposed
project may have on the environment, considering natural
social and economical aspects.

4. EIA's PROCESS
01
SCREENING
Screening often results in a categorization of the project and from this a
descision is made on wether or not a full EIA is to be carried out.
02
SCOPING
Scoping is the process of determining which are the most critical issues to
study and will involve community participation to some degree. it is at this
early stage that EIA can most strongly influenct the outline proposal.
Detailed predection and mitigation studies follow scoping and are carried out
in parallel with feasibility studies.

5. 04
MONITORING &
MANAGEMENT
The main output report is called an invornmental impact statement, and contains a
detailed plan for managing and monitoring environmental impacts both during and
after implementation.
05
AUDIT
Finally, an audit of EIA's process is carried out some time after implementation. The
audit serves a useful feedback and learning function.

8. EXTERNALITIES OF EIA
• New jobs generated, economic growth stimulated
• growth of local business enterprises supported
• development of supporting and complementing industries
• influx of capital and disposable income
POSITIVE EXTERNALITIES
• Depletion of natururces
• destruction of habitats
• change in ph, oxygen level of water
• global warming and ozone depletion
ENVIRONMENTAL EXTERNALITIES
• Impacts on healts of local people
• increase in crime and diviant behaviour
• additional pressure on existing infrastructue
• changed cultural values
NEGATIVE EXTERNALITIES

Conclusion
• environmental impact assessment is very beneficial step to check, wether the project is environment
friendly or not
• Science economic development is result of interaction between natural resources and technology
supported by designed for people, so all human activities should be economic, social and environment
friendly.
