2. Kareena Kapoor Khan is one actress who has redefined fashion in
Bollywood. She has probably created more fashion trends, through her
movies, than any other actress.
Here are a few reasons why Kareena is a style icon especially when it
comes to ethnic wear.
3. Unlike other star kids, Kareena chose an
unconventional film Refugee (2000) as her
launch pad where she was seen in a de-glam
avatar. She was seen wearing traditional
embroidered kurtas and ghagra cholis.
4. For her role as the warrior princess Kaurwaki in Ashoka
(2001), she donned tribal outfits, makeup and
jewellery.
5. She brought the sharara style lehenga back in
vogue with her iconic peach outfit in the song Bole
Chudiyan from Kabhi Kushi Kabhu Gham (2001).
Designed with a contemporary twist, this style is
still very popular.
6. Her patialas and kurtas in Jab We Met (2007)
created a whole new fashion trend. Kareena’s
Rajsthani print bags, waist chains with harem pants
were quite a rage. In the film, the actress was seen
wearing harem pants with embroidered spaghetti
tops .
7. Ace designer Manish Malhotra gave a glam
twist to her desi look in Bodyguard (2011).
Kareena wore a lot of Chikankari and
Kashmiri embroidery kurtas and lace chiffon
sarees.
8. Even Kareena’s wax statue at Madame Tussauds is
clad in a red saree with gold waist detailing and
jewellery, inspired by the outfit worn by her in
Chammak Chalo from Ra.one.
9. She wears the best Anarkali suits in
Bollywood. When it comes to choosing
the colours, Kareena loves
experimenting.
10. She brings her own special uniqueness
to every ethnic outfit she wears.
11. She wears the most stunning
lehengas. Even for her wedding
reception, Kareena wore a
beautiful pink Manish
Malhotra lehenga which had
buttis all over the dupatta and
the lehenga and a thick zardosi
border.
12. And now Kareena is taking her love for ethnic
wear to the next level with the Miss Ethnic

September 2015.
She will not only be a judge but will also crown
the first Miss Ethnic of our country.
