Take a look at how Cheadle and Marple prepared to make the switch to Moodlerooms. It will visit what was successful and why, results from student feedback on the project ad what happens next. It will also share insight into how their innovative teaching techniques encourage their students to better engage with their LMS.
5. What student engagement is to us
• Student Engagement is about involving and empowering our
learners with e-learning.
• We encourage the use of Moodle tools that promote
interactivity.
• Such tools should help the student organise their own learning
and contribute to their student experience, especially through
the use of online submission, feedback and badges.
5
6. What we have done to drive it
• Student Satisfaction Surveys for e-learning and Computer
Facilities
• Increased staff adoption by making Moodle easier to use and
understand (through systems integration, INSET days, ongoing
training and support)
• Greater Adoption = More courses and resources
• This has a positive impact on student engagement
6
7. How we have measured it
• Student Satisfaction Survey Results (e-learning survey)
• Reports Comparisons and Analysis (Moodle Review Process)

31. A2 ICT Marple
• The data shows that last year there were no posts indicating a
lack of interactivity in the course. Activity this year is obviously
high and linked to online assessment submissions and
feedback through Moodle to students.
• Views are also significantly higher indicating greater student
interaction with Moodle.

34. Creative Media BTEC L3
• The old Moodle model allowed all students to see just one
course.
• This course was large and could not be automatically
transferred and
all material has had to be manually downloaded or recreated.
• Some material is still being transferred. This is common on all
BTEC’s
and has caused a slow start to usage.
39
35. Continued…
• The new Moodle allows students to only view the course they
are enrolled on.
• To overcome the need for teachers to duplicate material,
• all students are being manually enrolled on the largest year
• 1 or 2 qualification available.
• Usage is significantly down for one of our highest used courses
• Historically and there is still a requirement to build on the
interactivity within the course.

37. Learner Voice
• Business, Law, Economics and ICT will be trialling using the
Feedback activity within each course.
• Learner Voice will be collected from January automatically
• This will also promote usage of Moodle
• If successful this could be used as a model for other curriculum
areas.
