In this presentation, Shivani introduces IoT and associated trends. Shivani describes what seems like a very interesting future to have with mobile as the gateway to a smart home.

2. What is Internet Of Things:
▪ Initially proposed by Kevin
Ashton in 1999, this concept
became popular first at Auto-ID
center , MIT
▪ It’s a computing concept that
describes a future where
everyday physical objects will
be connected to the Internet
and be able to identify
themselves to other devices.
3. Current Trends in IoT:
MachineTo Machine [M2M]
• Sensors and devices are talking to each other
and data sensors via wireless
communication.
Cloud Infrastructure
• Aggregating all generated big data is
captured, analyzed and responded from the
cloud itself.
Requirement Of IPv6
• Transition From IPv4 to IPv6 will allow all
“things” to be connected
Wearables
• Enterprises are integrating wearables into
different strategies.
Wireless Sensors and Devices
• Smaller, Smarter, Cheaper Devices are to be
developed to act as small data points all over
the things.
IoT Applications
• New Applications are developed to integrate
sensor based data to business applications.
4. Future in IoT:
• Smart Houses
• Recycling Electricity
• Energy Harvesting
• Automated Health
5. My Research Idea:
A Smart Life:
An individual with a smart life, his phone is connected through the internet to all
appliances. The individual leaves his office, his car gets on ignition automatically, and as
well as the air conditioner in his home. The person o entering the home, the electric circuit
board senses the phone and switches on the light. The person’s billing amount is being
calculated by the minute and is displayed on his mobile phone. Saving ideas of water and
electricity are popped up. If he doesn’t switch off a light, he gets a notification on his
phone and can switch it off through his phone itself.
This would be a brilliant scheme for a smart home and a smart individual in it.
