SMAC technologies, including social, mobile, analytics and cloud, are transforming enterprises by allowing rapid knowledge sharing, ubiquitous connectivity through mobile devices, enhanced data-driven decision making, and increased flexibility through cloud computing. When implemented together, these technologies provide a synergistic solution for digitally transforming organizations. Social media allows for collaboration and information sharing. Mobile devices are changing the technology landscape. Analytics improve processes through insights from big data. And the cloud provides scalability and reduces costs.

technologies are the
new change agents
in enterprise IT.
When implemented,
these technologies
serve as a synergetic
solution for digitally
transforming an
organization to be
better equipped for
the future of
business.
Social technologies allow for the rapid
sharing and creation of knowledge over
social networks, which enhances
collaboration and information
distribution across a business.
Mobile technologies are continuing
to evolve, reshaping the technology
landscape. The growth in smart
devices is bringing about an era of
ubiquitous connectivity.
Analytics enhance supply chains,
facilitate marketing, and optimize
existing customer relationship
management processes. The
immersive data processing power of
Big Data analytics allows companies
to deconstruct new forms of data in
the cloud.
Cloud computing lends businesses a
newfound agility, breaking down the
barriers of geography and cutting the
costs associated with physical server
maintenance. With limitless
scalability, the cloud powers the
transformative combination of social,
mobile, and analytic technologies.

3. LATEST TRENDS
A social media strategy has become a must for all enterprises, be it banks,
retailers or the government. The Search Engine Journal provides us with the
following data:
• 93% of marketers use social networks for business.
• 70% of brands are already on Google +.
• 34% of marketers have been able to sell successfully via Twitter.
• Facebook, Twitter and G+ are the most used 3 platforms for business and
marketers.
As more and more smart phones, tablets and other devices find their way
into the hands of employees, the demand to use them at work will intensify.
This trend will only accelerate in the years to come, and more and more
enterprises are adopting a formal ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) policy.
Employees are engaging in multiple work-related activities like reading
documents, presentations and access web meetings using their mobile
devices.
4. We are witnessing the use of analytics in multiple industries.
Companies are using analytics for everything from driving growth to
reducing cost improving operational excellence to recruiting better
people to completely transforming their business strategy.
More recently, national and local governments across the world have
started using analytics for optimizing public welfare programs,
reducing traffic congestion in their cities and fighting crime .
PaaS solutions enable businesses to reduce their IT costs while
increasing application development through more efficient testing
and development methods.
According to the International Data Corporation, a prominent analyst
firm, by 2017 the PaaS market is anticipated to expand from $3.7
billion to $14 billion worldwide. Within the next few years, Big
Data analytics as a service will offer businesses of any size an
easily attainable and scalable tool for competing in the global
marketplace.
5. INTEREST AREA
My interest lies in the field of “Cloud Computing”. I have worked on
Amazon Web Services i.e. EC2 (Elastic Cloud Computing) and S3 (Simple
Storage Service). Currently I am trying to get acquainted with the
architecture and internal working of Cloud i.e. How Cloud actually works ?
In this internship, I intend to work on Cloud Computing and its various
platforms like IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. I want to explore more in this field and
want to get hands on experience which would help me in sharpening my
skills.
