2. Adding Diigo to Your Bookmarks Bar
To install Diigo toolbar (full featured diigo
toolbar, requires installation):

3. Requesting Educator Account
Go to:
www.diigo.com/education to fill out an
application for a teacher account.
Once your teacher account is approved, you
can add kids to groups: it's secure and
private.

4. Adding Students to Your Teacher
Account
• If your students have email accounts, you
can send them an invitation email.
• If your students don't have email or if you
would prefer, you can enter names and
generate passwords for the students.

5. Reading Strategies Supported By

• Summarizing
• Paraphrasing
• Questioning
• Making connections between ideas
• Identifying main idea and supporting details
• Identifying author's point of view

6. Highlight
• Identify main idea and supporting points -
students can use different highlight colors
to distinguish between the two.
• Identify words which indicate author's
purpose and point of view.

7. Annotate (Sticky Note or Bookmark)
• Record summaries and paraphrases.
• Make connections to ideas in the text.
• Pose questions.

8. Tagging
• Make connections across texts
• Identify two or three main ideas/themes
• Organize information

9. Diigo and Classroom Research
• Set up a bank of research sources for safe
searching.
• Set up a group of internet resources for
quick reference - MLA site, OWL at Purdue,
royalty free music and image sites.
• Comment on resources so students can see
your thoughts - a good way to teach
evaluating web resources.

10. Collaboration
• Find a teacher in another school and set up a
collaborative group.
• Find and share resources within and across class
sections.
• Have asynchronous access to resources and capture
the thinking of the group.
• Publish to a blog right from your diigo bar or diigolet
button.
