Summer is an only child.
She lives with her mother.
Her dad died serving our country.
She is artistic and loves to write.
Likes to dress up for Halloween even
though she knows it is not age
appropriate.
Is a good friend to August.
Does not get involved in all the drama.

because even though the
story does not revolve
around her, her point of
view in presented. She is
also one of the reasons
why Auggie has friends.

character because she
does not go through a
significant change over the
course of the story. She is
kind at the beginning and
remains kind and friendly
throughout the entire book.

•Summer is a

character.
• Summer is a round character because
her personality is revealed through her
actions, words, and what other
character’s say about her. We know
how she interacts with friends and
family and how she handles difficult
situations. For example, she did not
want to be disloyal to Auggie, so she
left the Halloween party rather than
chose between Julian and Auggie.
