7. Overview about Probiotics
• Worldwide use of probiotics in livestock dates back to 1970’s after the partial ban on
AGPS as feed additives in Poultry feed, under the threat of antibiotic resistance
development in bacteria.
• In 2006, European Union put a complete ban over AGPS as per consumers demand to
produce safe and healthy food, thus replacing it with Probiotics till date.
• According to current stats, use of AGPS has banned around the globe partially &
completely and been replaced by probiotics.
