10. Installation Instructions
Safety and Pre-Installation Preparation
Line Splice installation for qualified a/c
service technicians.
Employ Safety Glasses & Gloves. Disconnect
Negative Battery Terminal.
Preliminary Preparation:
1. Prior to installation of Line Splice on a
system, all refrigerant must be recovered and
system must be at atmospheric pressure.
2. Select the appropriate size green sealing
sleeve and brass ferrule for the line O.D.
3. Installation of splice requires a 2” minimum
straight section of line (do not use on curved
line). Line Splice may add 1/8” to the overall
length of the a/c line. Verify that line has
enough “play” to accommodate.
4. Employ a tube cutter to cut line.
5. Clean burrs and contamination from the
end cuts. Clean tubing to remove oxidation,
scale or other surface contamination.
A/C Line Splice Installation
1. Assemble red nut on each tube end.
2. Lubricate both line ends and green
sealing sleeves with mineral oil.
6. Slide the compression ferrule and nut against
the green sealing sleeve and hand tighten on
each side.
3. Assemble brass compression ferrule (with
tapered end facing into the red nut) onto each
tube end.
4. Assemble green sealing sleeve (tapered side
towards splice coupler body) onto each
tube end.
5. Carefully guide each line (seal first) into
the splice coupler body.
- Ensure sealing sleeve is completely inserted
into coupler body.
- Ensure the line is fully seated and comes to a
stop inside the coupler.
7. Holding the coupler body with a 1” (25mm)
wrench, tighten the nut with a 7/8” (22mm)
wrench. NOTE: Tighten 7/8” nut to
minimum 20-25 ft-lbs. torque (Torque Wrench
recommended).
8. Evacuate the system and check for
pressure drops.
9. If no change, charge system and
electronically verify there are no leaks.
10. Re-connect the battery.
